The other day I saw a short news blurb about Trump saying he’d ‘be there” for Jimmy Carter’s funeral – presumably the memorial service at the National Cathedral slated for Jan. 9. My reaction was swift and along the lines of the title, only much more “colorfully” so. Of a nature that would have made my Company Gunny blush back in my active duty days. Still, when I settled down I assumed it was just Trump blowing smoke in response to some reporter’s off-the-cuff question. Trump being an asshole and all that. It IS after all one of the few things he excels at – being an asshole by saying outrageous things. However, more news stories have popped up talking about Trump claiming he will be at Carter’s funeral. If there IS a god up there in some heaven then said God can finally prove it by, should Trump show up frying him to a crisp with “The Mother of All Lightening Bolts” when he steps out of his vehicle. IF Trump shows up and that does NOT happen then f**k God. Either there’s God or the one we have isn’t worth jack-sh*t.
Yes, Jimmy Carter had class and he instilled it in his offspring. Protocol might indicate even a P.O.S. like Trump should get an invite to such an event. From where I sit protocol isn’t law or even hard and firm rules – it’s custom and custom can be overlooked or ignored at times. It often is in fact in certain circumstances. This would be one. However as things stand multiple major news outlets are reporting Trump’s comment about being there for the funeral. Trump has made no effort to walk it back. Most have also noted Trump was non-committal on whether he’d been in contact with the Carter family when he made his comment on New Year’s Eve. However, People has an article that fleshes it out a tiny bit more. The linked article cites the initial reporting of Trump saying he’d attend but evading questions on whether he’d spoken with the Carter family. Alas, it goes on to cite reporting from the Associated Press:
President-elect Trump revealed he’d been invited and would be in attendance at the ceremony while speaking to reporters at a New Year’s Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Fla., on Tuesday, Dec. 31, per the Associated Press.
“I’ll be there,” Trump said, before declining to comment on whether he’d spoken to any of Carter’s family members following his death, the AP reported.
I still have hope this is all a huge nightmare, in part because as we all know Trump lies as easily as he breathes. Since there’s been no statement from the Carter family on the matter perhaps Trump is simply trying to bully his way into things – so he can via his presence (and literal stench with his body odor) sh*t all over Carter’s tribute. I say the Carters should copy the McCains – publicly say Trump should stay away. Trump was President when John McCain died and predictably spoke and acted like a horse’s ass. Or as I like to say the flaming orange human shaped rectum Donald J. Trump actually is. Time reported:
Cindy McCain, the wife of the late Sen. John McCain, said President Trump was not invited to her husband’s funeral because she wanted to keep the ceremony “with dignity.”
“Even though it was a very public funeral, we are still a family,” McCain said in an interview with BBC. “It was important to me that we kept it respectful and calm and not politicize it.
Ok, so Jarvanka decided to ‘play government’ and show up. So did Chief of Staff John Kelly and SecDef James Mattis but those two actually served this country and like McCain went to war for it. THEY respected the hell out of McCain and his service both in uniform and later on and they were quite welcome. I’m sure McCain’s family would have preferred Jared and (then) Wannabe Princess Ivanka had stayed the hell away but they settled for Trump’s fat orange ass not being anywhere around.
The Carters should handle this the same way. We saw Melania’s disrespect at Rosalyn Carter’s funeral but at least it was fairly subtle. That whole classless goddam family should be hundreds of miles away from DC next week! Trump himself actually being in the National Cathedral would be the equivalent of the entire contingent of monkeys from the National Zoo being trucked over to screech and fling poop all over the place!
President Joe Biden and Jimmy Carter’s relationship was a long one. As a young Senator Biden was one of the first to openly back Carter’s run for President. Their friendship never wavered and it has to gall Trump that little time was wasted making it known that Biden had been asked to deliver the Eulogy. I’m sure there will be other notables making remarks or reading scripture. Even Bush 43 and one or two other Republicans perhaps. But NOT Trump if he does in fact attend!
NOBODY wants you there Trump. Including you! YOU don’t want to attend for Chrissakes. YOU won’t be the star of the show. All you can do is try and derive some perverse pleasures in literally (again, issues with his body odor are documented) stinking the place up. You will make nasty comments on Truth Social and Xsitter regardless. You don’t have to spend money travelling to DC to insult Carter and intrude on the celebration of his life in person! Yo Donald, wouldn’t you rather sit in a comfy chair using your stubby little thumbs to bang out nastygrams while someone gives you handjobs?
Well, it remains to be seen what will happen. Maybe, having gotten his way with the Speaker’s situation settled and his coronation with the counting of the Electoral Votes set for Monday Trumpty Dumpty will be sated. Perhaps Susie Wiles or some aide with political sense will intervene – maybe show him the bill for fuel it would take to fly on his own jet to DC. He won’t get to fly on OUR dime until the 20th! I personally think this all came about as a way for Trump to take attention off Carter and put it on himself. I don’t think for a second the Carter family ‘reached out’ to invite him. Probably they hoped he’d just want to stay away and make nasty comments on social media. I think Trump’s being ‘non-committal’ about speaking with the Carter family is proof they hoped to avoid the (literal) Trump ‘Stink Bomb.’ But Trump wanted to try and bully his way to center stage.
It pisses me off to no end to be writing about this. It should piss you off to be reading it and considering the awful spectacle of cameras turning to Trump when the focus should be on Jimmy Carter’s casket (and Carter EARNED that flag that will drape it!) and those who speak to HONOR him. If Trump does decide to fly to DC, dare we hope there is at least one person in a position to do so who is a patriotic and decent American who has the capability to cause a ‘mechanical problem’ with Trump’s plane? One that keeps it in the hanger with whatever trouble while Trump fumes. And keeps him from making it to DC?
To be clear, I’m not wishing harm to Trump. However I have no problem wishing some major problem with his f**king plane that keeps him from even being able to board it that day! Jimmy Carter deserves a memorial service free of all things Trump. And if it takes the Carter family doing what the McCains did – say Chip Carter borrowing Cindy McCain’s words then please Carter family do so.

Well, Denis, there is an interesting quid pro quo we could demand. In Nassau County, NY, the county exec., Bruce Blakeman, is a rabid Trumpite (redundant). He has refused to follow the US Flag Code and human decency and says he will not half-mast the flags. Hey, Trump, issue a statement about law and respect and tell your followers to get a life and follow the the flag codes and American traditions. Tell them that you are not above the law and neither are they. Tell them flags must be at half-staff until Jan. 28 across the nation! Then, we might find you a seat in the back of a true American’s funeral. Just a dream of mine! 🤭
tRump is filth. Absolute filth. He has no business attending the funeral of one of the most decent people to have held the presidency prior to Joe Biden. You’re right, he wants to make everything about him, redirect all attention from anyone else back to him, and that’s what he’ll use this occasion for. The Carter family should follow the precedence of the McCain family and just say thanks but no thanks.

I hope that he has one of his every-other-minute changes of heart and decides not to go because I’m willing to bet the Carters won’t let him screw this up. If he *does* show up hopefully he will get relegated to the back row of seats, well out of camera range, and will sulk the whole time because the attention in NO way will be on him. I wish he could be dragged out of the location by his crotch length tie. But I’m mean like that. Dude you aren’t invited. Go the hell AWAY. No please, just GO AWAY. I can hope, right??
