It is indeed the point. I am vehemently against home schooling because there are multiple advantages to being in school socially. We learn how to get along with different kinds of people, whether we like them or agree with them or not. That’s invaluable training for a life in corporate America, learning to go along to get along.
Plus, school has organization and discipline. You need to get to classes, on time, have your homework done, all of that is good. I now foresee a world that the Elon Musks and Ron DeSantis’s (DeSantii?) of the world want, which is a “dumbed down” electorate, all watching right-wing media.
And this has been going on since the 1980’s. If you haven’t read Neil Postman’s incredible and prescient book, Amusing Ourselves To Death, you need to read it. It talks about the outsized role that television plays in our intellectual growth being stunted. Another pair of books on the same subject are Harlan Ellison’s The Glass Teat and The Other Glass Teat. The stories in those books will blow your mind.

Besides learning how to function in a large group and being on time, getting work done on time, there is also standardized learning. Nothing ensures homeschooled people will learn civics and other important topics. It’s very dependent on the resources of the parents.
The Hitler Youth…homeschooled to be a killing machine. When over 50% of the voters choose a liar, I guess facts are absolete. Welcome to the hell you have chosen.
He did say ‘returning it to the states’ so if you’re in a blue state, things will be fine. But anyone in a red state could look at medical education in Texas, or education in Kansas generally, to get an inkling of the future.
Red states are set to more rapidly increase their descent into ‘sh!thole country’ status. We have a preview of how bad things can get by noting that the murder rate in Mississippi, a long term failing red state is currently twice that of Haiti, an actual failed state with no government, just anarchy and lawlessness, and a source of refugees fleeing the violence.
So the Trump states’ kids can get back to learning the ‘afixin to’s’.
So our property taxes skyrocket if states have to subsidize and create schools and programs. The school portion is already enormous. Two of my nieces home school their kids because the are antivaxxers. Yeah, eff’d up family. One actually teaches her daughter, including several languages. The other…her lazy a$$ husband teaches their 2 daughters. He takes them on nature walks every day and that is their schooling. The parents sleep in and won’t let the kids disturb them. They leave the kids at home and go skiing and have other fun. The kids eat unsalted peanuts and milk in lieu of cereal or other breakfast foods for breakfast and are warned to be quiet so parents can sleep. Mom is a chiropractor who works minimal hours (so they can get welfare) and dad doesn’t work so he can “care” for their kids. They have a LOT of hidden properties and income, hidden so they can collect that wonderful welfare. It’s all in dad’s father’s name. They are scum. I can’t believe that is what our country will become. Geez.
I feel sorry for those kids. They didn’t ask for this.
They are already a mess. The world will be far worse with these kids growing up and entering the work force, if they even do. I foresee early teen pregnancy and possibly marriages/divorces or welfare in their futures, if there is welfare when they grow up. They are not quite preteens.
