The beguiled and misgendered Latino reggaeton star Nicky Jam apparently was not happy with Donald Trump’s not knowing if he was a guy or a gal. And certainly that’s understandable. A lot of people have names that can be either gender. Bobby, Pat, Joey and Nicky are a few of them. Trump portrayed Nicky as a woman, one that was “hot.’ If rendering the male Nicky female wasn’t bad enough, the “hot” portion surely infuriated many women, ones who don’t like the description.
At first, Nicky joked about the comment Trump made, unleashing an Instagram post captioned with “Hot woman.” The comment, made in Spanish, was accompanied by a whooping 23 laughing emojis. But who’s laughing now? Nicky deleted the post according to the Daily Beast, on Sunday night, and so much for the endorsement as well.
Jam’s Trump endorsement, amplified by the buzz surrounding the awkwardly inaccurate rally introduction, has made him the subject of relentless criticism—and mockery—across the internet.
Okay. When one is such a massive draw, it’s a bad idea to obliviously resist the clear repudiation lobbed by fans even when it is done so in a comment section. A deletion of the post and comments will at least draw as many questions as the endorsement itself.
Trump has already faced questions as to why so many musicians support Harris and so few endorse him. Surely it’s easy to see that musicians often populate the “rocky” edge of society and therefore expected them to veer off to the left. But that won’t calm Trump down. He has surely noticed the lack of endorsements from society’s “cool” edge. As a matter of fact, if Trump hears from a musician nowadays, you can rest assured that it’s in the context of a cease and desist letter.
According to The New Republic, Jack White of the White Stripes is the most recent addition to a long list of musicians.
The roster of artists who have outright banned Trump from using their music is long and wide. Last month, Trump ticked off Swedish pop supergroup ABBA by using their music to advance his campaign without their permission. He also drew fury from the Isaac Hayes estate, Celine Dion, and Beyoncé for the unauthorized use of their music during campaign events and advertisements.
Well, one can list as many musicians as one wants, and Google certainly does a more complete rendering, but it is finished enough when one lists Beyonce. Anyone so stupid as to anger Beyonce should withdraw from any race for office as utterly hopeless in judgment and hapless in any endeavor to use her music.
The endorsement of the U.N. would have far less appeal than one that includes all artists suing the Trump campaign, including Beyonce but as well as:
Mick Jagger, Lorde, Sia, Blondie, Sheryl Crow, Green Day, Lionel Richie, Elvis Costello, Keith Richards, Steven Tyler and Rosanne Cash
Yes, the inclusion of both Mick Jagger and Keith Richards can be seen as double dipping, still, it’s not good to add the Hispanic Nicky Jam.

I don’t know if Nicky Jam has any real integrity or a new-found spine or maybe some self-reflection about his endorsements of politicos. But, it is very clear from the instagrams from other Latinx stars that Nicky Jam was worried about monetary endorsements coming his way! Many groups who have had long-time associations with him are now on record saying they will not associate with racists like Nicky Jam does…so he’s losing fans, friends, colleagues and money! Funny how hits to your own bottom line will start you at least rethinking who should be hugging onstage!! 🤨
Oh I get it…you only care when it’s YOU being shit on.
Sometimes it takes real pain to shock someone back to their senses. Me, I hope he sees reason.
When you’ve pissed off Beyoncè AND Tay-tay, just give it up my dude.
