You know, right now Kamala Harris and Tim Walz must be feeling like Jake and Elwood Blues, We’re on a mission from God. From the day that President Biden dropped out of the race, they’ve run the table like nobody since Minnesota Fats stopped playing pool.
Yesterday on MSNBC, Alex Witt had an economist with some news that, if true, may just be the straw that breaks Trump’s back. First came the good news, unemployment stayed low, wages are up by 4.1%, and inflation is down to 2.2%, the lowest in three years. Hey, every bit helps, right? But numbers don’t make you feel better, lettuce in your wallet does.
Which is where the second news comes in. Due to increased US production and lower consumer demand now that summer is over, gass is falling through the floor. By the middle of October, they expect the national average price per gallon to fall below $2.50 a gallon, as much as $0.80 a gallon in some places, and in places like Vegas where I live, more than $1.00 a gallon over this time last year. Think people will notice that? A 30 gallon tank that cost you $70 last year will now cost yoiu $50..
But Wait! There’s More! Due to the lower cost of fuel, along with a preemptive price gouging accusation from the DOJ against Kroger that may have sunk their planned merger with Albertson’s, food prices are dropping, and are expected to continue to drop into the spring. When it rains, it pours.
This is the kind of break for Harris that money can’t buy. Two of the top issues Trump was clobbering Biden on was the economy and inflation, where he held leads in the mid teens in both categories. Thanks to stabilization in the economy lately, and slowing inflation, Harris has cut those leads down to mid single digits. And in a close election, a drop for Trump from +14 to +6 could make all the difference in the world.
Here’s why this could be critical. Many Trump supporters are honest about it. They don’t like Trump, in fact they hate the spud, but they still think that Traitor tot would be better for the economy, so they’ll suck it up for all of the bullsh*t in the sake of their pocketbooks.
But if prices on everyday necessities like food and gas are dropping, with every indication they will continue to do so into the near future, than that may be the last piece in the abandonment permission structure to dump Trump and come on over Camp Harris. The first indicator of this over the next month will be if Harris continues to close the gap in the polls in those two categories. The votes will likely follow.
Which proves that Traitor Tot is a political imbecile. Early in person voting in Pennsylvania starts today, and I’ll be amazed if turnout isn’t through the roof. And early mail in voting started last week in one of the southern states, I believe it was Mississippi, with heavy returns already flowing in. Quite possibly a sign of high Democratic interest.
The RNC is desperate to get people to the polls early, they know the dangers. But El Pendejo ex Presidente has continued to insist that election day in person voting is the only loyal MAGA thing to do, he cut off funding for grassroots operations intended to getting out the vote, putting it into election day Integrity Police at the polls instead. Which is imbecilic in itself when you consider that under The Cheeto Prophet’s plan, the majority of election day in person voters will be GOP voters! What fraud are they looking for?
Which leads to the McGuffin. If Il Douche and the RNC were hammering an early voting nail, then many voters who went to the polls or mailed in their ballots early because of Trump on the economy, they wouldn’t be able to go back and change their minds later if economic conditions improve. By forcing them to wait until election day, he’s literally sowing the seeds of his own October Surprise. And if it goes down the way I hope it will, it ain’t gonna be a surprise birthday party. Don’t touch that dial.

One more thing to factor in is the Federal Reserve FINALLY wanting to cut interest rates. They’ve dragged their feet on this for too long, just as they dragged their feet (more like let Trump BULLY them) into keeping the fed rate for borrowing at zero back when the economy needed no juicing. Anyway speculation has turned into certainty that a slight drop will finally happen now. The only question is whether it will be 50 basis points (one-half percent) which the bulk of economic talking heads seem to feel is well-justified or only 25 basis points (one-quarter point) which they think is more likely. Jerome Powell wants to save face, and will lead the Fed to another drop of 25 basis points before the end of the year.
Still, that will have a bit of impact. We should take whatever we can get.
The ‘Integrity Police’ could prove a slight embarrassment for all concerned.
Keep in mind that the ONLY confirmed (and convicted) cases of illegal votes last time round were, surprise, surprise, Republicans

I thought that you could vote on election day even if you previously mailed-in a ballot.
The in-person vote would just replace the mail-in. Maybe I just dreamed that?
No…If you voted by mail and it was received and logged in, it removes your name from the roll for live voting…Mainly because there’s no physical way to track your ballot down in the millions of others…Maybe what you’re think of is that if you vote by mail, and it’s rejected for whatever reason, you can still show up on election day to vote if you don’t go in early to the election office to correct your mail in ballot…

1) The serenity prayer is atributed to Reinhold Niebuhr, Lutheran theologian (1892–1971). The unquoted part of the prayer is critical: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
2) We received in the mail information about voting by mail along with forms to apply for mail-in ballots. Given the current state of USPS service under Trump megadonor Louis deJoy, the option is risky at best, and early in-person voting is an option here. There was also information regarding showing up at the polls on Election Day after having submitting a ballot in the mail, the voter will be issued an affidavit ballot, which will undergo special handling.
