Yes, there is news other than the upcoming debate. However we’re just a half-hour from the start of it so I’ll make this as quick as I can. It’s too good not to get this news out there. As you know Trump took over GOP fundraising including that at the RNC. All money flows to Trump. Trump as we know is not someone who will share. Political pros know how important a ground game is which is why the DNC and RNC (along with outside groups) invest in a Get Out The Vote operation. Register people. Make phone calls. Canvass and knock on doors. Arrange rides to the polls. That kind of thing. Trump made it known he’d chosen NOT to put resources into that type of thing so Turning Point USA to great fanfare announced an initiative to raise over 100 million for a GOTV effort.  They raised (drum roll please) TWO million!

Yep, according to this article from Salon this major conservative group has rather fallen behind in meeting its goal.  Ok, let’s be fair. They are after all only NINETY-NINE percent short of their goal!  It’s a lengthy article and I don’t want to take up too much of your time tonight but it’s important news. The funny is simply a bonus but the basics are:

In the spring, the conservative activist group Turning Point USA announced a plan to spend more than $100 million on a marquee “Chase the Vote” program, aimed at getting low-propensity Republican-leaning voters who might not have voted in 2020 or 2022 out to the polls.

However, the lofty goals set by the organization are meeting a more modest reality. According to Federal Elections Commission disclosures, Turning Point PAC has only raised about $2 million this cycle, with the bulk of their funding coming from the conservative Right for American organization, real estate developer Stephen Wynn and the Claremont Institute’s Thomas Klingenstein.

As I said it’s a detailed article and the debate’s about to start. Still, this is important because time is running out for the GOP to get its act together. WE are well organized and funded in our GOTV operation. It’s a matter of keeping up the enthusiasm. The GOP on the other hand is behind, and frankly scrambling to catch up. Both in money and in organizing.

It ain’t over till it’s over so the saying goes. But keep an eye on all this in the crazy we’re sure to see after the debate. First there will be all the spin. Then the polls and discussion of polls. But fundamentals matter. Making sure you are ready and able to contact your voters and get them to vote is the surest way to win. Right now it looks like the GOP has a major problem on it’s hands.

With that I’ll simply encourage you to read the linked article when you have a chance. Now, sit back and watch the debate unfold.
