Democratic VP Candidate Tim Walz went to a topic that seems to have really gotten to Trump, which is Trump (and Vance) objecting to being called weird. At a rally in Pennsylvania Walz mentioned Trump’s ‘Town Hall’ with Hannity and Trump referencing the weird thing eleven times. Walz trotted out the old saying in politics about if you’re explaining you’re losing. He went on to say “I think we’re getting under his skin a little bit.” Since Trump (and Vance) have been complaining about being called weird for a month now I’d say Walz has understated just how irritated Team Trump is!
So what’s this latest kerfuffle? According to The Wrap, Trump thinks Walz is the weird one for calling him (Trump) weird:
“He walks on the stage, there’s something wrong with that guy, and he called me ‘weird,” Trump said Wednesday night. “And then the fake-news media picks it up. That was the word of the day: ‘Weird. Weird. Weird.’ They were all going — but we’re not weird guys; we’re very solid people who want their country to be great again. It’s very simple.”
Walz could have played up the Hannibal Lector having us over for dinner, or boats and sharks and electric batteries (and other stuff) but instead he chose to make light of Trump’s hurt fee-fees in a more pointed way as you can see:
Walz: There’s a saying in politics: if you’re explaining, you’re losing. Last night, 11 times Donald Trump explained that he wasn’t weird…

On so many issues including abortion/reproductive rights, guns/school shootings, tax cuts for the rich etc. Trump (and Vance) are by large margins on the wrong side of public opinion. It seems to have partially dawned on Trump that his positions, and Vance’s different way(s) of dismissal of women is hurting his chance so he’s bouncing around like a pinball saying one thing to one group and something else to another trying to appease them. All the while Vance keeps right ahead doubling down on his comments about women, meaning the two of them can’t even get their own campaign message straight. But they’re’ not weird:
“We’re not weird. We’re other things, perhaps, but we’re not weird,” former president Trump told Hannity.
Well, what else would you call it? That part about “we’re other things, perhaps” jumped out at me. Trump in effect says ‘call us something else but don’t call us WEIRD. Please. That word has caught on and it’s hurting my campaign so pick another word.’ Well, I’m not the type of person who cares much how hurt Trump and Vance’s feelings happen to be over being called weird, but if they don’t like it I’ve got plenty of other things to call them:
Strange. Clueless. Out-of-touch. Brainless. Heartless. Asshats (MAGA hats are kind of a giveaway) A$$holes. Dumbasses. Uncaring (for regular folks) Unfeeling (again for regular folks) Stupid. Crazy. Batshit insane. That’s just off the top of my head. I could go on and on, and on. I’ll bet you can too. Maybe Trump should have just rolled with this one because given all the things he and Vance COULD be called “weird” is actually pretty polite. Instead Trump and Vance are going around like that person in the title pic and calling attention too something strange to behold
Sometimes you should quit when you’ve fallen behind. Just concede. Trump and Vance COULD diffuse this to a large degree by doing the one thing neither of them will do – laugh it off. Instead they keep complaining and blowing fresh air into the sails of this mess they are in. Each time they complain those of us who remember our Shakespeare have a “Methinks Thou doth protest too much” moment, then wonder why they don’t just ignore the subject or laugh about it and take away the power of the moniker they clearly hate.
It’s really a quite simple thing they can do and even if they didn’t realize it for themselves they’ve got advisors who have told them how they should be handling this. They simply can’t bring themselves to do the smart thing here. That they refuse to so is, in a word:
WEIRD!

And from a man famous for labeling people…same old rule of the ruling class…it’s OK if WE do it…but not if you do it. I’ve forgotten how many times he’s said ‘crooked’ Hillary. Hypocrisy…forget the organized religions…Hypocrisy is America’s true religion. We’ve been practicing since we slaughtered the native Americans, enslaved the Africans, locked up the Japanese Americans for years in camps, continue to lock up pot smokers, while lawyers snort coke and drink scotch in boardrooms, and so on and so on. We get the culture we create. Now every goddamn body is as fragile as soap bubbles, and are experts on everything and nothing. Trump is the poster child for us…after all he WAS the president, elected by tens of MILLIONS of us and after four years of CRUELTY, LIES, GRIFTING, TRAITOROUS behavior…he got 10 MILLION more votes. He leads an attempted coup, and FOUR YEARS later he’s the GOP nominee, still free. Hell…he’s probably going to get even more votes this time around.
In the sage words of Oscar Wilde: America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.

Couldn’t agree more! Thanks
