At this point Traitor Tot is starting to remind me of that stupid Limu Emu commercial where the bird keeps peckiing at it’s own reflection in a plate glass window.
Apparently yesterday Trump held what the campaign called a policy event, in a venue that must have been about the size of a Trump Tower elevator. And I say apparently because there wasn’t a single shot of either Trump nor the venue, nor any tape footage. Although he did find time for a one-on-one interview where he vented some more about Kamala Harris.
Today it was an alleged roundtable on crime and law enforcement. I saw a shot of him sitting in front of a microphone with four or five cops sitting behind him with their arms crossed, reminding me of nothing more that all those folders of blank paper on the table next to him when he pretended to turn his business over to his monkey spawn. If I heard MSNBC correctly, the reason the shot looked jerry rigged is because it wasn’t Trump’s preferred venue. He tried going into a metro Detroit police station first, and they’re bluntly telling him the circus isn’t coming to town in the middle of a work day.
And still to come, I believe on Thursday is some kind of dog and pony show on the border about immigration. The one common denominator about all of these events are that they’re all scheduled to run before the democratic convention kicks in for the day. Which has done the campaign no good at all. This week belongs to Kamala Harris and the Democrats. And Harris is flexing her muscloes in Trump’s face by holding a sold out lateral campaign event in the same arena he accepted his nomination in three weeks ago, while the United Center is jammed to the gills.
But got Trump, this convention, like a bad kidney stone, shall pass. On Friday the Democrats will pour out of Chicago and get ready for the 76 day sprint. And Trump will still have the same problem trying to crack the media cycle. I can sum it up in three simple words, sleaze. is. dead.
I have written previously about how brilliant Biden was in suddenly turning Trump’s own age against him, by stepping back and letting in a younger more energetic opponent. And it’s working like a charm, and there isn’t a damn thing Traitor Tot can do about it.
But in a brilliantly choreographed spectacle from the United Center, the Democrats are doing to the GOP writ large what Biden did to Trump. I’ll explain.
In stepping back, Biden made Trump the old man, the has been, and many of the DNC speakers aren’t letting him forget it. But look at the DNC lineup, or just part of it. Bill and Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, and Jill, Clyburn. And opposite that, young guns like Malcolm Kenyatta, AOC, Maxwell Frost, amd soon to come David Hogg.
Get it? It isn’t just Biden turning the torch over to Harris, it’s the entire Democratic old guard is turning over the torch to the future of politics in this country. And in doing so, they are making not only Trump, but McConnell, Thune, Cornyn and the rest of the GOP fossils look like those old men in their rocking chairs on the porch of the retirement home, refighting Vietnam or something.
Jacob Soboroff of MSNBC just put it more perfectly from the floor of the convention in a few words than I could in a few thousand. He said, I stood on this floor last night surrounded by signs saying, “We Love Joe!” and “When we fight, WE WIN!.” Three weeks ago I stood on the floor of the GOP convention and was literally surrounded by signs reading “MASS DEPORTATIONS NOW!.” I can’t think of a more powerful contrast, and I hope.
Hip-Hop artist Common just warmed up the crowd from the stage, Trump had Kid freakin’ Rock. Beyonce gifted her mega hit Freedom to the Harris campaign, Trump strutted out to accept his nomination to the tune It’s a man’s world. The contrast shows you everything you need to know.
By the time this convention is complete, the transition will be complete, for at least a generation, and on live national television. As I said once before, it reminds me of Will Smith pointing to himself in MIB II and saying Young and hot, then pointing to Tommy Lee Jones and saying Old and busted. Sums it up perfectly, don’t you think?
I thank you for the privilege of your time.
