You know, one of the big problems for the Biden-Harris reelection campaign in 2024 was an almost universal malaise.

The grassroots activists were suffering from WOE, Withdrawal Of Enthusiasm, grassroots donations were down, and deep pocket donors were sitting on their wallets until the situation sorted itself out about Biden’s electability.

Not anymore. Not only is Harris stacking up the endorsements like cords of firewood, but that dark thundercloud over the party’s grassroots has disappeared like a sunny day in Honolulu. Just for instance;

  • The Biden-Harris campaign announced that in the last 24 hours since Biden stepped down and Harris took over, they had raised an amazing haul of some $81 million, almost exclusively from small donors
  • Act Blue, the Democratic fundraising juggernaut announced that their 24 hour haul was larger than any single day since the 24 hours following the passing of Notorious RBG
  • Harris announced that she had chosen the law firm partnered by former Attorney General Eric Holder to handle the vetting process for her potential running mates
  • The Democratic fundraising group Founding Forward had a healthy $120 million in hand. In the last 24 hours they’ve doubled that total with a $150 million haul
  • MSNBC reported that as of 5 PM PST Harris already had firm pledges of 1407 of the 2000+ delegates she’ll need to seal up the nomination
  • The Biden-Harris campaign stated that over the last month or so, they averaged about 200 calls a day from people wanting to volunteer to work for the campaign. In the last 24 hours they logged 28,000 calls from people calling in to volunteer for the campaign
  • As I wrote in my previous article, a snap poll of voters taken over the last 24 hours showed that an amazing 94% of registered Democrats approve of the Harris candidacy

So, the grassroots is energized, and then some. And as more empirical evidence of the grassroots enthusiasm comes forward, you’ll see more and more of those recalcitrant deep pocket voters are going to get off of their wallets and open them up again.

And that’s just the first 24 hours. If I heard correctly, Harris is scheduled to fly up to Milwaukee tomorrow for a pre scheduled rally. And as the newly minted presumptive nominee for the Democratic presidential ticket, she’s going to get coverage. And if that’s true, now that all of the excitement and uncertainty of the last 24 hours are over with, she’ll truly be Kamala Unchained. She’ll rip Traitor Tot a new one so deep he’ll need a second roll of toilet paper, and seamlessly transition into an inspirational, progressive vision for the country under a Harris administration.

And do we even want to talk about the democratic Convention? Trump had to get winged in the ear to generate any national sympathy, and then he turned around and pissed it away in front of the most critical audience of his career. This convention is going to be a four night celebration of 50 years of selfless public service, with the ultimate unifying moment of President Biden handing over the torch to the next generation of progressive Democratic leadership. And I damn near guarantee that the networks won’t be cutting off any of the speakers short, except probably FUX News.

I’ll make this comparison in closing. In 2016, if Bernie Sanders had folded his tent when Hillary Clinton had the delegates sewn up, no matter how unfair the process, and thrown his weight behind Clinton immediately to heal the party and move forward, we may well never of had to suffer through the national degradation and embarrassment of Emperor Numbus Nuttus I, and Trumpism wouldn’t even still exist as we know it. But Sanders was driven by passion, stubbornness, and ego. In 2024 the sitting President of the United States made a selfless, patriotic gesture to save his beloved party, and in doing so may well have saved the democracy he has spent his entire adult life servine a second time. Thank you, Mr. President.

I thank you for the privilege of your time.

  1. In his heart Bernie, like Ralph Nader knows damn well the literal death and destruction their egos and stubborness caused. Deep inside part of them feels shame. But to their dying breath they will deny, deny deny how badly they screwed this country and the world. President Biden has them both feeling that shame burn inside right now. If either were to chew on it when their head hits the pillow one night soon, and they never wake up I will have no f**ks to give.

  2. The sugar high continues. A black woman will win in the most racist country on earth? I won’t vote for Harris because of the chicanery they pulled on Joe. Good luck. Maybe she can get Taylor Swift to be V.P. I’m sick of the baseless optimism.

    • John, May I suggest the “chicanery” was the result of an uneasy, underlying recognition of the truth of the stuation: that, while capable, the President was indeed fading and the brutal reality of the optics such that, however unfairly, Trump had relative momentum. I am/was Pro Biden and yet feel the same relief evident in the celebratory fireworks around Kamala. From what I have seen/read there is no evidence that she was part of the “Joe must go” party, remaining loyal to her firiend/mentor/President. If you are truly a Democrat, you won’t take your ball home but get out and generate solid foundations to replace the baseless optimism you are sick of with sound confidence.

    • I’m giving “John Smith” the benefit of the proverbial doubt and presuming he’s not a Bot from somewhere in Eastern Europe. The “baseless optimism” he cites is real, it’s a continuing complacency of the Left in general and the Dems especially: that It Can’t Happen Here and hence no need to get off the sofa and vote. That’s how we got the orange blob instead of an actual president. The only antidote is the vote and this time, NO Democrat nor Independent can fail to show up at the polling booths. The stakes this time are just too huge.

      • Sorry, jarvis, but we got the “orange blob” because of a 25-year right-wing smear campaign against Hillary Clinton and one that was helped along by more than a few Democrats–especially the DNC which was more than willing to allow a NON-Democrat to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate without demanding he actually join the party, during the primaries at the very least, as well as yielding to the pressure to allow NON-Democrats to participate in the Democratic Party primaries (sorry, but I don’t give a rat’s patootie over the hurt feelings of someone not willing to actually join a Party in states that operate closed primaries having *any* input into selecting the PARTY’S candidate–that’s what the general election is for; if you’re so adamant that you should be able to vote in a party primary in a closed-primary state, then join or register with the party).

Too many “Democrats” bought into the decades-long smear campaign and chose either to stay home or (more likely, given the voter turnout) vote third-party (and, quite likely, for that other Russian paid operative, Jill Stein) or write in Bernie’s name.
