I love the big screenwriter in the sky. However we mere mortals may aspire to the creation of imaginative characters, we are creative amoebas compared to what Real Life is able to add to the narrative. As you’ve undoubtedly heard, Walt Nauta, Donald Trump’s Diet Coke valet and alleged box mover, pleaded not guilty today. You may also remember that Nauta did not have an attorney. Well, he got one. Hours before his appearance in court, he retained the services of Sasha Dadan. Her image for Dadan Bonna Law is the image you see atop this story.
And yes, I am getting hoarse from saying, “you can’t make this stuff up.” If only I had a dollar for all the times I’ve typed those words, I would be sitting in a cafe in Rome, with a glass of fine wine in front of me and blogging from there.
Get caught in a hot mess?
Call Dadan Bonna Law 772-579-2771 pic.twitter.com/P3iZOSdlE6— Dadan Law Firm (@DadanBonnaLaw) June 2, 2019
Dadan, who ran unsuccessfully in the Republican primary for the state legislature, claims to have represented more than 3,000 clients on a variety of charges while working in the public defender’s office, and her private practice’s website says she has handled civil cases, including domestic violence injunctions and child support matters.
She’s also done DUIs and misdemeanors. What this background has to do with treason, national security matters, and violations of that caliber, I haven’t the slightest idea. I thought it was weird, many years ago, when a family law lawyer I knew tried a products liability case, but now that actually seems kinda normal, in the face of this.
One thing about Trump world, it’s like a 50’s radio station. The hits just keep on comin.’

Somebody really wants to go to prison🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ why?who knows🤦🏻♂️
I wonder if Nauta will go to prison for Donald Trump. We knew Mark Meadows wouldn’t. And I sure as hell don’t think Rudy Giuliani. But Nauta? He’d have to be crazy. He’s only 40 years old. That’s very young, from where I sit. He can get another job, go on with his life. Being an ex-con is not anything he needs to do.
Not to mention any kind of pension or military retirement money he has will be voided (and it’s possible he might have to pay back whatever money he may have gotten given treason is a very serious crime to the military).
I’m so sick of hearing about this freaking Barbie Movie that’s coming out. Every time I see it in the news I think back to a cheesy ear-wash song/video from long ago. Kind of a send-up of the whole Barbie thing which when I was growing up at least was a big deal with girls. It was rather controversial both for some of the lyrics and the “acting” in the video. My favorite comment on it came from a morning drive DJ in the DC area (I’d later come to detest him but that’s another long story) and though it was a country station its co-hosts were quite popular. The gal brought the thing up and they talked about it. In recounting his take on it (she’d encouraged him to watch it) he made a funny & sarcastic crack about bimbo sex doll Barbie and “Work Release Ken” which sometimes came to mind during the years we had to endure the exploits of Jarvanka “playing government.”
As for this lawyer, I couldn’t help but think immediately of some slightly altererd lyrics:
I’m a Barbie girl
Now I’m in Trump World
A disaster
I am plastered!
Watch the video (if you can take it) and please, feel free to get creative and rewrite these and other lyrics! I think there’s a lot of creativity in my fellow Zoomers waiting to be unleashed.
On a more serious note, maybe my initial impression is wrong but I agree her background doesn’t begin to prepare her for a case like this. I also think that it’s likely her law practice was at best okay and staying afloat & that it probably didn’t take all that big a fee to get her to sign on – and take marching orders from Trump’s lead lawyer to STFU except when given the okay to say “Yes/No your Honor” and advise Nauta however the hell Trump ordered her too. It really does look like he’s willing to go to jail for Trump. Although he’s probably rationalized that Trump will a) be able to delay the trial until a point where it has to be put on hold due to Trump’s being the GOP nominee and DOJ’s sixty day rule kicks in and b) that Trump will win and he’ll be off the hook.
Whew! Jeeeez Denis, I lasted about 12 seconds of Barbie Girl and am absolutely lobotomized. It should be required listening at Trump rallies and during enhanced interrogation sessions.
I lasted 30 seconds. Now I’m thinking of opening a beer and it’s only two o’clock. But it is 103 outside, so there’s that.
P.S. Unlike Laura’s legal.bimbo, the Barbie movie is,witty, intelligent, feminist and clever social commentary. America Ferrara has a,speech that.pretty sums up the crap.women put up with every damned day.
As for Ken, once he grasps the concept of patriarchy, he is pretty much Donald Trump with brainwashed bimbos fawning all over him and fetching him Diet Cokes in skimpy outfits.
Since ‘public defenders’ don’t get paid enough to mount real defenses, most encourage plea deals, making them a party to a bureaucracy that fills the country jails, and the state and federal pens WITH POOR PEOPLE. So if she handled ‘thousands’ of cases at her young age, she must have spent ten minutes with each accused, and then went to lunch with the politician known as a prosecutor. The accused went to a concrete closet with a concrete bed and a toilet/sink combo. It’s called EQUAL JUSTICE UNDER LAW. Sure it is. The rich, and the educated middle class, have NO idea what I’m talking about.
You’re absolutely right and I will bear witness to that. In the late 90’s a lawyer friend of mine came to the office to pick up a file and said to me, “Anybody who doesn’t know that there are two criminal justice systems, one for the rich and one for the poor is a moron.” He explained that he went on an arraignment to help out a friend, and what he learned about the criminal justice system, even from a brief encounter with the low end of it, made him want no part of it. It was seriously that bad, in his view and obviously in yours. You’re both right. Tragic but true.
You apparently have no clue what you are talking about. Some of the best trial lawyers I have ever worked with have come out of the PD’s office. As for Sasha, I have argued many cases against her and she is extremely competent. Aparantly you have no knowledge of our legal system or of the many fantastic attorneys working in the 19th judicial circuit
Ursula we can change it with the vote if enough people want to. It didn’t get that way overnight, and it won’t be ‘fixed’ overnight, but it is a human institution, and humans can alter what we’ve done in the past for the betterment of all. A rising tide lifts all boats, even ones stuck in the mud.
I admire your fighting spirit but the reality is that too many people make their living by running mostly young poor people through the process (AKA The justice system). The goal is not justice it’s a plea bargain and permanent enrollment in the parole system.
monthly parole payment is the income for the system. There is no thought of justice. many eventually go on to keep the for profit prison system funded and looking for more more more people sentenced to prison. it’s all supply and demand. What Justice.
In the testimonials on her website, her clients describe her as well prepared and aggressive: “Wolf in Sheep’s clothing!!! She is a straight up 10 foot tall beast!!,” and “Sasha is a complete savage in the court room.”
Putting aside the hot mess barbie thing for the moment, I’m glad Nauta has retained her. She sounds like an attorney who will give the orange beast and his legal team something more to worry about, like a plea bargain.
Hot mess barbie knows little, if anything, at all about espionage/treason/classified doc. law. I’m trying to figure out why anyone would expect Nauta to find an appropriate attorney? He served diet coke to former gut f.f.s. He would have gotten paid for that at least and in a timely fashion. The fact he has the female version of Better Call Saul as a defense lawyer might mean he isn’t getting paid promptly…or at all perhaps.
