I can feel Junior’s angst here, believe it or not. A bad bump just went down. Or, maybe a perfectly good bump went down badly. In all events, Junior is not fully here with us and on a night when he’s supposed to lend his erudition and wit to his august father’s aid. (Yes, I know, not even Steve Bannon could have written that line with a straight face, but I tried, gimme a break.)
Here is Junior attempting to focus on the talking voice. Not sure who the voice is — not even sure that I care. Point being, the show is in watching Junior cope.

The guy has seen better days, let’s just put it that way. And no, I am not convinced that he is “highly animated” without chemical assistance. But one thing I am grateful for, at least he’s not doing air quotes. Many thanks for that small favor.

Junior’s got some major life issues and whether or not his fruit fly father runs for president again is actually the least of them.
I wouldn’t want to be him going into detox. It’s going to be something.
He does seem to be, as the British press would put it, ‘tired and emotional’.
AKA smashed off his face and completely out of it.
To be fair, I’d probably seek chemical solace from the reality he faces daily.
I don’t blame him. But like with everything else in life, you have to know when enough is enough and not lose yourself totally. Junior’s lost it.
