Well, it looks like it’s official now, folks, or on its way to becoming official. A former GOP senate candidate and current talking head on right-wing media just went on the air enthusing over Vladimir Putin. She not only shares his god, she can’t wait for him to liberate this country.

This is just a drop in the bucket. Take a look at the overall picture, here. We have Marge Greene, on any given day, trashing Volodymyr Zelensky, which is praising Putin, let’s face it, we have Tucker Carlson with some anti-Ukraine dirge, now there’s this. This is the right-wing media sphere, that the “Christian” KGB thu in Moscow is some kind of a moral standard bearer. This is beyond insane.
That’s the definition of a man of God, to these lunatics, somebody who would command an invasionary force and slaughter civilians. Horrific crimes have been reported in Ukraine, the rape of children in front of their mothers. The Ukraine war is the stuff of nightmares. Yet here in the United States, where the lights are on and the grocery store shelves are stocked and the heat works, right-wing commentators lionize the man.
I think there should be legislation that in times of war, sentiments taking the part of America’s enemies should not be broadcast, or at least broadcast with a chyron that says, “Ukraine (whatever country) is an ally of the United States and NATO.” Maybe the mental midgets who listen to this drivel would get some kind of a clue, but quite frankly I doubt it.
Or maybe America’s headed straight down the tubes. Color me alarmed.

my undergrad college was in D.C. I would occasionally go to the Brentano’s bookstore near the White House. This happened to.be the staging grounds for a,lot of marches. I’m not a practicing anything, although my latest foray into organized religion was converting to Judaism in Springfield Massachusetts in 1979 to please my fiance. Got a nice colorful certificate with my Hebrew name. Hey Jesus was a practicing Jew, and studying Religion with scholars makes a great case for how many of our beliefs have evolved over thousands of years. Any document from thousands or even hundreds of years ago can be studied to see what can be proven and what can’t. The sheer number of individuals that created or had input into the Bible is staggering. By the way, you won’t find any evidence that Jesus taught you can do evil and be ‘saved’ by being washed in his blood. Nope. He stressed what the two greatest commandments were, and both can be found in Judaism. He also said those who kept his commandments were his disciples, and those who didn’t weren’t. He did challenge Jewish religious laws, but even when he did, he asked the recipients of his intervention or healing to “go and sin no more”. The problem with modern Christianity is it is a religion, not created by Jesus, but by the emperor of Rome, the leader of a fascist state. I agree with Daniel Berrigan, an Anglican radical who challenged our country during Vietnam. I met his brother, Phillip, who spent 13 years in prison for pouring blood on draft records and damaging war planes. Daniel once quipped about the Christian church, which he knew well, ” what the church has done to Jesus is what the governor of California,(Reagan), wants to do to the redwoods; take a wild and wonderful thing and turn it into den furniture.” Bingo. All organized religions are guilty of this. In that sense you and John are onto something. By the way, when you get dog tags in the military, one of the things listed besides name, SS#, & blood type, is your religion. Guess they plan on the possibility of your death and the type of service that matches your affiliation. Mine, stamped into metal says: no preference. Ha.
