Aggravated assault is an unlawful attack by one person upon another for the purpose of inflicting severe bodily injury. Did you know that Jesus did this? He did not, of course, but that doesn’t stop wingnut Emerald Robinson from saying that He did.

This is the same guy who said, also in the same book of Mathew, “Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.” But he walked into the temple of the money changers with a weapon?

The two greatest commandments: love God with all your heart, mind, and strength, & love your neighbor as you love yourself, are the foundation according to the gospels. The temple story only appears in two of the four gospels. In one, it’s at the beginning of his story, in the other its at the end. My guess, given the religious intolerance of the Jewish religious authorities, and the roman intolerance of civil disobedience, it was likely at the end, and the catalyst for his arrest. So one out of four accounts is close to the truth. Either way, ignoring the golden rule doesn’t make you a true believer. Ironically, twisting Jesus’ message makes these hypocrites the same as the money changers; people who worship money more than the truth. They follow “the father of all lies” Jesus discussed in John 8:42-47. I’ve mentioned this passage many times and have YET to get a comment from a ‘true belever’. Hmmmm. Devil got your tongue???
Just as a reminder-that love G_d…and love you neighbor stuff is actually Torah and should be practiced by all Jews and likely was practiced back then about as much as it is now. Please stop it with the “religious intolerance” bullshit. According to the Rabbinical Court (Beit Din), the person called Jesus allowed people to call him a deity and in fact called himself one. This is VERY MUCH against Jewish law. Jesus was not the first to do this nor the last and in fact was not even the only Jew to do this. Such a thing is however punishable by death as a greater blasphemy is not committed among Jews. So if Jesus was a Jew, and you all seem to think he was (and I’ve no evidence to the contrary), he violated Jewish law in the worst way possible. No Jew was going to speak up for him after that. Jews were not running to x-tianity in droves. Did you think that was by accident? The fact he died was the all the proof any Jew has ever needed that Jesus was no more Moshiach than trump is.
Am I arguing the religious authorities back in the day were all saints? No. But applying the law as it pertained to Jews is not “religious intolerance”. Back then Jews were Jews and Torah was all that mattered. Back in the day death sentences were the norm in all cultures-Jewish as well as the rest. However it should be noted: rome put him to death, not the Beit Din. Even this take doesn’t got right exactly what was happening in the temple. This was a case, not of aggravated assault or lack of love-on-another. It and the second instance were interpreted as invasions of his own home. Not hatred, but righteous indignation over “my father’s house” as a den of thieves, and the “MY house” as a house of merchandise. He had good reason to defend his home. By that time Judaism had become far more political that spiritual, with all the corrupt trappings that accompany this movement. Here it is: Everyone coming to The passover was there ti sacrifice a spotless animal. A risk for those trying to arrive in dangerous onditions from many distant places. So, they arrived to the temple where they could buy sacrificial animals from doves to lambs, depending on their finances. And here is the catch. the priests had decided that the animals must ne bought with “clean money,” called the temple coin. The money changers were contracted by priests, who got a kickback, for changing the foreign money at exorbitant rates and then purchase their sacrificed from “approved vendors,” who also gave a kickback to those priests for their highly inflated prices. So Jesus knew what he was talking about. a highly corrupt system to enrich the priests serving ostensibly in the house of God, hid father, and in the second instance, as Jesus had “overcome the world, by remaining without sin, his own house, which he claimed from the mission he had done for all of us. Thus Emerald Robinson shows she know nothing of the entire plan and mission of Christ on earth, including her own salvation from the permanency of death and possibility of resurrection we all now can claim. No exceptions, no matter what our ultimate destination after our final judgment yet to come. They don’t actually read the bible the rest of us have. They have their own version, and it’s very limited: Daniel, the many letters attributed to Paul, and Revelation.
Even the Book of Daniel they get egregiously wrong. The Book of Daniel is a prophecy given to Jews dealing with past and future regimes Jews had and would experience. When it was given, Daniel had no clue what it was about. Present day Jews know very well it was warning us about two future religions: x-tianity and Islam. Evangs seem to think it pertains to them and it kind of does-they are the future Daniel was warned about.
They have parts of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. But they read them very selectively. (Ablout as selectively as they read Paul, actually.)
They read Laviticus to locate cudgels to use on the rest of us who don’t fit their mold and ignore Paul’s statement that the las (Leviticus) was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, and then Christ gave the two all-encompassing great laws, containing all the rest, i.e. to love God completely and our neighbor as ourselves. He even elaborated on just who our neighbor is. I imagine these yahoos who have the nerve to call themselves christians also have never understood the message of II Timothy Chapter 3.
The Jewish leaders were hypocrites and the Torah is FULL of God’s anger at the Jews for Not following the Torah. Why, when Moses even came down from the mountain, he found them worshipping a golden calf. Jesus is portrayed as being a Jew who went to temple. Read Luke 4.
