Again I ask, is there a laboratory somewhere where the creepiest of the Republicans are grown in jars? Because this recent crop, the ones who are in both chambers of Congress right now, are hitting new lows every day and then the ones who are looking to get into Congress are simply beyond description. Enter one Eric Hovde, who seeks to unseat Democratic incumbent Tammy Baldwin. Senator Baldwin is a hero for her efforts to make the lives of regular Americans better. So much so the Koch Machine put major money into defeating her, yet in Wisconsin where so often winners and losers are separated by razor thin margins she’s till there. Working for the people. Not the rich and powerful.  Hovde, is an election denier who thinks that nursing homes are stealing votes from residents because he doesn’t know, apparently, the difference between an assisted living facility and hospice care. But this kind of a dummy wants to be a lawmaker in the upper chamber and he has the endorsement of Trump.

Sheer idiocy. But this kind of ignorance exists. I recall having to call an ambulance eight years ago. Two paramedics were helping me. One was nice, the other was an ageist punk, like this one, who said, “Well, you’ve probably got a couple of years left.” I was anemic at the time, not terminally ill, but to him 63 was extreme old age and I could kick at any moment and definitely I was on the downslope, in my last days. (What’s comical is that I got my first paycheck as a blogger when I was 64 and began a new career. True story)

That crack was bad, but at least it was coming from an ambulance attendant and not somebody looking to become a member of the world’s greatest deliberative body, as the Senate has been deemed. And well it may have deserved that descriptor at one time. However, nowadays, with people like Tommy Tuberville, Katie Britt, Ron Johnson, John Kennedy and others occupying seats, and people like this Hovde clown, Kari Lake, and Trump’s favorites from last election, Herschel Walker and Mehmet Oz running, Barnum & Bailey-esque would be a better descriptor. Rolling Stone:

Hovde, whose comments were first reported by Heartland Signal, is not entirely correct in his assessment of nursing home life expectancy. While it’s true that some residents die within months of entering assisted living, many live comfortably for years in long-term residential care, while others voluntarily leave nursing homes for a multitude of reasons, including a preference for in-home care.

Regardless of how long a person stays in a nursing home, the right to vote has no age-based expiration date. Wisconsin became a focal point for election conspiracies in the aftermath of the 2020 election, including through largely baseless claims that nursing home employees had fabricated or manipulated the votes of elderly patients.

And yes, it gets worse. How could it possibly, you ask? Well, do you know what made Milwaukee great? Hovde’s against that. Seriously.

Hovde, a banker and investor by trade, made an unsuccessful bid for the Senate in 2012, and announced his second attempt to win a seat in the higher chamber in February. Hovde has already drawn the ire of Wisconsinites after publicly coming out against the sale of alcohol — a bold stance if you’re trying to represent what is arguably the beer capital of America. As previously reported by Rolling Stone, Hovde also waged a decadeslong pressure campaign to force the Silver Dollar Tavern, a Madison bar beloved by locals, to sell their building to him in order to demolish the entire block.

While Hovde has explicitly stated he does not believe the 2020 election was stolen, last month former President Donald Trump officially endorsed him during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “I met Eric, and I’ve studied Eric and I — because we have to get it right,” Trump said.

This is the kind of clown that is on board to make America into Trump’s version of great, and a gong show to the rest of us. I do so hope that Baldwin wipes the floor with him. This is the Herschel Walker of 2024, friends.

I cannot stand people who don’t respect their elders and this has been my feeling lifelong, not just since I’ve gotten up in years myself. Each generation builds and contributes. Then it’s our turn to enjoy our golden years while the younger generations make their mark. This is the way of life.

To deem older people as useless, as this guy clearly does, and to insinuate that there’s some kind of ballot theft in assisted living/nursing homes, etc., is perverse. He must have zero acquaintance with people of substance in older generations, plus he’s clearly made Trump’s acquaintance and absorbed his *stollen* election philosophy.

Wisconsin already has Ron Johnson to disgrace it. They don’t need the one-two punch that a Hovde victory would bring. Again, I don’t know where or how the GOP finds these people.

  1. If we’re going to put an upper age limit on voters, there goes most of the supporters of Mr Trump, even more effectively than a mental competence test would be.

He should be careful what he wishes for.

    • Indeed he should because if that wish were to come true for him, surely we could put a lower limit on I.Q. numbers–below a certain number, say, 80-90, you cannot vote because stupidity should never have a part in deciding anything more than how much toilet paper you use to wipe and maybe not even that.

That combined with the age limit thing would pretty much guarantee dingle berry would not win a single state. It’d also empty Congress of the magats/freedumb caucus or as I like to say, a win-win situation.

  2. I caught someone “helping” my mother vote when she was in the nursing home. the ballot was signed but no votes were marked. To be filled in later with who they wanted. well it didn’t work because I called the cops and they had no documentation that they were authorized to collect votes. they were all seized and arrested. we never heard about this on any Media even when I called to have them report it. My mother’s nursing home is only one of many in the state of Michigan. I just happened to be there when they tried this. I asked the home director who let them in and were they checked. My letter of complaint got her fired for bending the rules. Freedoms require constant virulence. The left is corrupt. time to remove them all.——-I, Grampa

    • I wish you had made a lot of noise, more noise rather, so the media would not have any choice but to report on this. I seriously doubt your mom’s nursing home (or your mom for that matter) was the only place doing this kind of sh*t. It matters not at all which party was a party to this–wrong is wrong and this is obscenely wrong.

    • The “left” is NOT corrupt, you old piece of horse dung. The RIGHT is absolutely corrupt and it’s being led by the absolutely most corrupt piece of trash that’s ever emerged from the shores of America.
      Go eff yourself, “Grampa.”
I also don’t believe a single word of your bull.
And whoever upvoted this right-wing asshat needs to go somewhere else.

  3. You need to correct this in your article:
“Senator Baldwin is a hero. She was maimed when her helicopter was shot down and she lost parts of both legs.”
It was Senator Tammy Duckworth that ‘was maimed when her helicopter was shot down” not Senator Tammy Baldwin.

  4. Sorry, I don’t believe “Grampa.” People, whether they be trolls/those that love to stir s..t on Liberal web sites, w/o legitimate proof(posted in News). I don’t believe everything I read/hear.
