Little Donnie Trump did not have a good day yesterday. No, Sir, he did not. His bestest friend, the guy he thought was his bestest friend, went to Donnie’s house — yes, it’s still Donnie’s house and he’s going to move back in soon, so there — and he treated the guy in that house as though it was his house and he belonged there, and not Trump. Not TRUMP!! He took Biden’s side and he laughed at Trump!! This was the worstest, most awful, most horrible day in Donnie’s life and it had nothing to do with that other rich guy and his space ship. Or with Tom getting indicted, who gives a crap about that? The Intelligencer:

Tom Brady visited the White House Tuesday to celebrate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning the Super Bowl, where he joked around with President Biden at Donald Trump’s expense. It was a scene straight out of a Donald Trump nightmare, and quite possibly the worst day of Donald Trump’s life.

To grasp why such an anodyne scene would produce such a wounding effect on a man who has endured misfortunes such as bankruptcy, losing a presidential election, two impeachments, and innumerable legal setbacks, one needs to understand his peculiar psychology. Here, in rough order, is Trump’s hierarchy of needs:

1. To be treated as a winner

2. To pal around with celebrities

3. To not be laughed at

4. To gain the specific approval of Tom Brady

Trump’s special obsession with Brady goes back years, when he would devote his now-suspended Twitter account to vocally defending the quarterback against penalties for using a deflated football. [….]

Last year, Brady described his “friendship” with Trump that make it sound more like an unrequited man crush:

“He would call me after games, ‘I watched your game Tom, let’s play golf together.’ So, 2003, 2004, that’s kind of the way it was,” Brady said. “He would golf, and then he became someone that — he would come up to our games and stand on the sideline. He would cheer for the Patriots. He always had a way of connecting with people, and still does.

“But the whole political aspect came, and I think I got brought into a lot of those things because it was so polarizing around the election time. It was uncomfortable for me. You can’t undo things — not that I would undo a friendship — but the political support is totally different than the support of a friend.”

And now, having avoiding Trump’s White House on a flimsy pretext, Brady went to Biden’s. Not only that, he used his appearance to mock the candidate he defeated.

So now Trump has the choice of doing what he always does when somebody is disloyal or perceived as disloyal and that is to rail against Brady  publicly and the chances of Brady giving two hoots about that are negligible. Brady has presented himself as being something that Trump absolutely can’t stand — or, cannot fathom in any event — and that is, he’s his own man, with his own mind and not a Trump toady. And on some Freudian level, that might be a large part of the attraction. Trump doesn’t take a stand on any principles, because he has none, he’s just tuning in to grievances as a troll so that he can exploit people and make himself more popular. Not much substance in that.

If you missed Brady’s homage to Biden at the White House, here it is.

Biden and Brady, together at the house Trump used to live in and hoped to never leave, basking in their winner-ness and laughing at Trump. Donald Trump would rather relive Election Night a thousand times than see this day.

To see one’s idol rubbing elbows with one’s enemy and identifying with him through humor has to cut Trump deeply. Brady openly mocked Trump. Trump is constitutionally incapable of letting something like that slide without retaliation. Let’s see what happens now, it should be good for laughs.

    • Trump has never blown off something like this before. If I had to bet, I would bet his aides are telling him to blow it off and he’s arguing with them about it. We shall see.

    • Isn’t this cool, Trump the full blown idiot destroyed everything Obama, (including our first line defense against Covid-19, because Obama roasted Trump with a 5 second comment at a press dinner) he was the worst thing to happen to the USA …

And now, he is truly powerless to really jab anyone anywhere, they should double down on Trump any time they can make him broil in the sun of international entertainment …

  1. Here in Canada he’s been a joke since the election he won. The one before the last one. The company in affiliation with the Trump organization to whit removed the Hugh Trump sign from their hotel in Vancouver B.C.
