I fought the law, and the law won   The Bobby Fuller Four   I fought the law

I wrote at length yesterday about how happy I was about Biden’s aggressive six step plan to aggressively stomp out the Covid virus. But it wasn’t until I saw the GOP’s hysterical overreach in their response that I twigged to the fact that Biden had been even smarter than I thought. Here’s why.

Since the inauguration of President Barack Obama in 2009, the GOP gave up any last pretenses towards governance and moving the country forward. Instead they comported themselves as a bunch of spoiled, obstinate, obstructive little four year old beyotches.
Their stock in trade became a crucifixion of the others, and endless litany of white grievance bitching, and so called culture wars. This became even more prevalent in the era of Trump, when the party, with a willing racist in charge, shrank to its narrowest base. That’s why I sometimes refer to them as the Grand Old Party MC. These days the GOP is nothing more than an outlaw motorcycle gang, without the Harleys. BTW, Florida congresswoman Val Demmings rides a Harley. Bitchin’.

These redneck ass wipes and IQ negatives are real hard bad asses when they cream at a bunch of mostly female school board members, healthcare professionals, and actual concerned parents who would like to see their kids graduate high school. It plays so well on FUX News to see these social misanthropes kicking at fenders and banging on windows screaming for people to get out of the car so they can get their ass kicked. And that trumped up outrage only helps to motivate the rest of the fucktard GOP base.

Surprisingly enough, Biden is underwater in the latest polling for his handling of the coronavirus. Despite all of his best efforts.  I think I know why. In all things Covid, Biden strove to put a positive face on. When announcing the widespread availability of vaccines for mass use, Biden promoted July 4th as our Independence Day from Covid. Well, as of today, almost 75% of us have had at least one vaccination, and we want our fucking lives back! And we’re starting to get pissed off about it!

Which is exactly what Biden harnessed yesterday in his speech. He called a spade a spade, he laid the blame directly where it belonged, and he announced that he was sick of waiting for sanity to break out, so now he was going to mandate it. His words were music to the ears of people like you, and I, and Teri, who followed the rules, and are sick of being hamstrung by a minority of fucktards. Biden is dropping the hammer, and using their jobs to force them into compliance. Watch for Biden’s Covid numbers to rise in the near future.

But here’s why the GOP is so stupid time pissed at Biden right now. White grievance and culture wars require public forums, they need school board meetings, open legislative hearings, and other public venues in which these fucktards can lick their nuts screaming and swearing at everybody else. That is the fuel that keeps their fires burning hot and bright.

And this is what Biden, in one brilliant stroke, has deprived them of, the oxygen for their fire. What did Biden do? He mandated that all federal employees be vaccinated, or submit to weekly testing. The same thing for any outside vendors that do business with the federal government. Thanks to an emergency order from OSHA, the same goes for any employer with more than 100 employees. Yes folks, it’s time to make the kiddies eat their Brussels sprouts.

What Biden did that was so brilliant was that he depersonalized the process! from my long ago, misguided youth, I have never forgotten an axiom that I heard from my parents, my neighbors, relatives, and later friends and coworkers when talking about going up against the government. You can’t fight City Hall. Not only do they enforce the rules, they write the fucking things! If a government official comes to your door, you’re hosed.

There goes the oxygen for the GOP’s crusade. There aren’t going to be any FUX News cameras filming you screaming at your boss about your personal liberties, and then being escorted from the building by security with a cardboard box in your arms. Yes, you have the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but you do not have the right to a job, especially when the company is being squeezed by Uncle Sam.

Companies large and small across the country have literally been begging for this kind of close air cover to allow them to mandate vaccination of their workforces. And now they have it. The emergency rules from OSHA, and the governmental orders remove them from liability, they are just following orders. But most importantly, it has deprived the GOP of their public forum to gin up artificial outrage. More than 50 years from my youth, the same still holds, You can’t fight City Hall.

  1. In most (if not all) states absent being an employee covered in a collective bargaining agreement every employed person is an “at will” employee who can be terminated at any time with or without cause. A lot of people don’t realize that, especially if their employer is large enough to have an HR department. Local and county government employees sometimes fall into a gray area but let’s keep this simple. Since conservatives have slowly but steadily driven down union membership, and since what trade unions that are left are no longer the bastion of reliable Democratic votes they once were a lot of them are screwed. All their fighting for “right to work” laws in red states, and union busting means a lot of working class folks that MIGHT have been able to fall back on their union to help them keep their jobs have shot themselves in the foot. Oops. The real screamer might be if all of a sudden these goobers start pushing to organize their workplaces! (With the right to refuse “gubmint mandates” like OSHA enforcing vaccines)

  2. I was listening to NPR interview with a United rep about their enforcement of employee mandates on vaccines. The interviewer asked about passenger mandates. Basically the spokesperson said it would have to be a federal mandate as United only controls their planes and not the facilities. He basically said they were waiting(begging) on a federal mandate for vaccines for air travel. That is the next step. I flew recently from Costa Rica to the US. I had to be tested, along with my vaccination to get on the plane.

  3. It was kind of funny watching the news Friday night (as I’m typing this, it’s just before 2am Saturday morning) and there were–of course–“conservative” and “Republican” spokespeople getting their little “talking head” moment (the only Democrat in the segment was Biden but there were a few business people and medical people who spoke in favor). One of them was whining about how it was an overreach and how it “interfered” with private businesses’ operations and I thought “What a fucking moron.” I mean, I seem to recall a couple of GOP governors who went out of their way and BANNED any “private business” from establishing their own mask mandates or requiring customers to show proof of vaccination before entering the establishments.

So, it’s infringing on businesses (of certain sizes) to require their employees be vaccinated or to require masks of employees (or even customers) but it’s NOT “infringing” to say a business cannot do that of their own volition? Please. Such hypocrites. (Well, what did I expect? GOPers are hypocrites any time there’s a day with a -Y in the name.)

Also, I started thinking back on the AIDS “epidemic.” How many businesses (mostly gay bath houses and saunas) were shuttered by city and state governments as part of their need to “fight AIDS”? How many right-wingers were seriously talking “rounding up the gays” and putting them in “camps” to stop the spread of the disease? (For some reason, it wasn’t ALL people with AIDS, just the gay ones.) How many people died from the disease in the half-decade before the government (specifically the Reagan Administration) actually took notice of it? The most effective method of preventing transmission was condom use–but the Feds were too scared of the “Moral Majority” to actually promote condom use (and certainly it couldn’t be discussed in schools–couldn’t have the teenagers “experimenting” with sex which was the obvious result of telling them how to properly use condoms). And AIDS/HIV, even then, was far less contagious than COVID is now. Oh, and how many people were thrown in jail for “assault with a deadly weapon” for the horrible act of spitting on police who were protesting? Men who were openly gay couldn’t risk the prospect of needing CPR because medical emergency personnel were reluctant (to put it mildly) to risk the oral contact (even after work-arounds that limited direct mouth-to-mouth contact were developed, there was still hesitation by first responders if a victim was known to be gay).

  4. The problem of stupidity & self righteous hypocrisy was clearly laid out by Dr. Suess in his book, The Sneetches. Some were born with stars on their bellies, & some weren’t. The star-bellied sneetches discriminated against the others. One day Mr. Monkeymcbean came along & for a fee provided stars. Then the original ones with stars wanted theirs off, & for a fee, he took them off. Well…they ran through his machines so many times trying to maintain elite status, all of them forgot where they started. With all their money piled high in Mr. Mcbean’s truck, he drove away laughing, saying, ” you just can’t teach a sneetch. Of course, they were smarter than 30% of our country, as they realized their arrogant stupidity, & decided to let go of false pride. Wonder if the Republicans ever read that story. Clearly. NOT. U can teach a sneetch, but these evil morons are beyond hope. Rise up 75%. Get off ur comfortable middle class asses & realize this is war. We sent BOYS with guns to Europe to prevent the nazis from killing our children. We need to get as fired up as these assholes, AND BE WILLING TO FIGHT TO SAVE OUR CHILDREN. STAND & CONFRONT THESE ASSHOLES AT EVERY TURN.

  5. The anti-vax “train” of thought appealed to folks when it was all about liberty and “rights.” But now the train is out of control, resulting in orphaned kids, dead kids, treatment rationing at hospitals, teacher shortages…the list goes on. GOP politicians can’t stop it, although a few, like Gov. Ivey of Alabama, tried. Looking ahead, expect hospitals to close because of heavy debts, labor shortages to get worse, and tourism to drop sharply. Those are just the predictable calamities, and the red states will suffer the most.
