If it’s a day ending in a y, it’s a day in which there is yet one more beyond parody moment coming out of the GOP. Nowadays, these moments come in multiples. And most of them wash right over us, because we’ve lost the kind of sensibility that used to be called “normal.”
For instance, back in the day, a major political party would never censure two elected officials for deciding to investigate the worst incident of violence in the nation’s capitol since 1814 when British troops marched into Washington, D.C. and set fire to the President’s Mansion and the Capitol. No sitting member of Congress of that day was criticized, let alone censured for investigating that incident. But that was then and this is now and you know about Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger being formally censured by the GOP.
Equally strange, although admittedly more comical, is the short clip you’re about to see about the “blackest” United States president. Hint: it’s not Mr. Obama.
MAGA pastor/GOP congressional candidate Mark Burns declares that "Trump is, without question, the blackest president that we have ever had in this nation." pic.twitter.com/kiT9LupFHf

Mark Burns is an evangelical preacher who is running for the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina’s 4th congressional district.
Nothing racist about that, right?

Any psychologists here want to weigh in on Stockholm Syndrome, any of that?
Oh no, nothing racist at all.
…. as Boenhoffer said
“Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved — indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
