The polls have not closed yet in Arizona, but a conspiracy theory is afoot nonetheless. We have none other than Kari Lake and Donald Trump to thank for that — and their right-wing cronies, of course.
As you may have read, here and elsewhere, some voting machine tabulators in Maricopa County, AZ, had a few minor problems, which were immediately corrected.
But that didn’t stop Kari Lake from claiming shenanigans and a stolen election were in progress and then Trump had to post this on Truth Social.
😂😂😂OMG he is panicking!😂😂😂

And Lake went running to the platform of her war consigliere, Steve Bannon.

Does she know how stupid she sounds ranting about “incompetency?” Just wondering.
And then of course there’s this. Trump isn’t getting enough press or enough credit and my goodness, we can’t have that.
Former President Donald Trump said if Republicans he backed win, he "should get all the credit… But it will probably be just the opposite." Watch the interview tonight at 6p/5C — find your channel: https://t.co/ZH35VUp1Ik #Election2022 pic.twitter.com/nDTEM1uWOf

You know it galls the living hell out of Trump that he’s on this pipsqueak, nowhere platform when he should be on Fox News. At least according to himself.
Now here’s what is interesting. Why are they panicking? To hear them tell it, it’s all over and they’ve been had. They’ve gone down in flames. The freaking polls haven’t even closed yet. What’s up?
Could it be the exit polls? CNN reports
Only about 37% of voters in this year’s midterms expressed a favorable view of former President Donald Trump, with around 6 in 10 viewing him unfavorably. About 16% of voters said their House vote this year was intended to express support for Trump, with just under 3 in 10 saying it was intended to express opposition and the rest saying that Trump was not a factor.
Maybe it’s as simple as that. Maybe the fact that the exit polls didn’t depict him as universally loved were simply too much to take. Or, maybe the fact that two-thirds of the country believes Biden actually won the last election. That must be a hard pill to swallow.
What about Lake? She has said she’ll accept the midterm election results if the election is “fair, honest and transparent,” but she hasn’t committed to accepting the results regardless of outcome. So what is her definition of “fair, honest, and transparent?”
It’s not over until it’s over but I think it’s interesting that both of these candidates, rather than actually projecting the confidence of winning are in hang dog mode, griping about being sabotaged.
We shall see. The night is young. Some polls are set to close at 7:00 p.m. (which is now, at the time of this writing) and others are set to close in an hour.
If Lake goes down to defeat (please let it be so!) then a few bars of an old song will be on my mind:
Hey – Kari Lake
You told LIES and
LOSING’S how you paid…
I think her definition of ‘fair, honest and transparent’ only applies if she actually won – otherwise it isn’t
Since the only way Trump ever won anything in his sad pathetic life was by cheating, he must assume that whoever won MUST have cheated as well.
I saw a Newsweek cover showing former guy in jail/orange jumpsuit and asking if he’ll do time and above that, very top, “Life on Other Planets”? Kind of funny as there are different ways to juxtapose those two headlines.
Looks like he was an anchor for Ms. Lake.
