Watch the Dim Bulb That DeSantis Is Try To Shine In Debate Prep

Form and substance are two different things but not to the GOP. What you’re about to look at is what happens when a political party loses its way and has no purpose, no direction and most importantly, no platform. They go Hollywood. They decide that since they can’t be politicians they will play one on television. That’s what Donald Trump did, after all, and it landed him in the Oval Office. That inspired Ron DeSantis. He huddled with his TV-anchor wife and they decided they would be the Republican Jack and Jackie Kennedy.

DeSantis is hoping and praying that lightning strikes twice insofar as coasting on image alone is concerned, and if only he can look and sound like a president, well, maybe he’ll get lucky. So he had Matt Gaetz work with him.

Now you’ll see what a dim bulb DeSantis really is.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see that. DeSantis is not a natural candidate. Worse yet, he’s not much of a politician. You don’t need to be a superstar if you’ve got some substance and something of value comes out when you open your mouth. But the GOP can’t be concerned with matters of gravitas these days, they’re too busy trying to survive and they’ve decided image is it. Just put a candidate up there that looks and sounds okay on TV and we’re ready to rock.

The only problem is: sometimes there are questions from the press and DeSantis is catastrophically bad when it comes to unscripted moments and thinking on his feet.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never had to write down “likeable” to remind myself how to be a human being. I wonder if DeSantis is from this planet. Seriously. He seems pretty far removed from normal human reactions and emotions, if he’s got to write down likeable in order to remember the characteristic, and remind himself why it’s valuable.

Bugs has a great solution. Let Florida become an island, hopefully one that drifts far away from the mainland. I would say, “Or let it sink like Atlantis,” but there are too many political pundits there whose voices I enjoy.

I marvel that DeSantis is this awkward. He has a fine education. One would think that going to Yale and Harvard would have put some polish on the man. It does for most people. But DeSantis is like Ted Cruz. He may have the best legal education that money can buy, but temperamentally he has zero aptitude for public service because he can’t communicate with other human beings. He can’t empathize. He’s a book learner, solely. And one driven by power, not by a desire to serve or improve the lot of humanity, that’s for damn sure.

Let’s see what happens in Iowa May 13. DeSantis was planning to announce his candidacy but Trump is counter-programming him with a rally of his own. It’s going to a zoo.
