WATCH: Kellyanne, Without A Trace Of Irony, Explains How Awful It Is When An ‘Unpopular President’ Signs A Slew Of Executive Orders

Kellyanne Conway is quite the character. She is somebody who actually has called Donald Trump “Sir” so there’s that. The occasion in question was when he asked her to head up his campaign and she said, “I’ll do that for you, Sir.” She’s not a big strong man and she didn’t cry but she did speak the magic word. (I call Trump “Sir” as well, only I spell it c-u-r.)

Kellyanne made an indelible mark on American culture with her comment about “alternative facts.” That was the moment that America moved into a post-truth, post-parody world, where we still dwell. Although Scottie Nell Hughes, another Trump surrogate, got the ball rolling way before then with her comment, “There are no such things as facts.” That was pure Orwell, that day. That happened in December, 2017 and by February, 2017 “1984” was number one on the Amazon best seller list.

Here’s Kellyanne, oblivious to her hypocrisy, as usual.

We sure wouldn’t want an unpopular president doing an end run around the commonly known values of the American people by signing an executive order contrary to the wishes of those people, now would we? No siree bob, we would not.

I mean, somebody like that could ban Muslims from entering the country and leave thousands of people stranded at airports, people with legitimate business like getting a life saving operation for their kid, that kind of thing. What kind of a maniac would want to do something like that?

And her taking the climate denial stand is perfectly in character but that doesn’t make it any less insane. What will it take for these people to get rational? Do all the rivers and lakes have to dry up and we slowly roast like marshmallows on a spit before the right-wing takes hold of our common reality? We don’t have another planet to go to and the climate denying, fossil fuel enthusiasts seem to think that we do.

I don’t know. I personally monitor the changes to the Colorado River and grimly observe the fact that the last time Lake Mead was full, it was 40 years ago. Now you see the hard water marks as the lake lowers and old sunken boats and dead bodies are starting to surface.

In any event, Donald Trump issued 220 executive orders and he was the most unpopular president in history. He started signing them like they were autographs, which to him they were. He signed his first one, “Executive Order Minimizing the Economic Burden of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” within hours of taking office. He had to take a shot at Obama first off. Steve Bannon had the list of orders on his white board in his west wing war room and Trump just signed what Bannon put in front of him. I doubt he even read most of them, or would have understood them had he bothered to read. We had president Bannon and vice president Stephen Miller running the government back in that day, the truth be known.

But let’s look on the bright side, shall we? At least Kellyanne referred to Biden as “the president.” That was either a Freudian slip or a major step forward. Perhaps both.
