Part of the process that we go through post-mass shooting, is the obligatory analysis of who the shooter is/was and why they did it. Why oh why did they do it? Presumably if we can figure that out, then nobody else will do it again, because we’ll be able to recognize them and stop them.

The El Paso shooter left a lengthy manifesto. He was actually somewhat easy to spot, if looking for people like this is what you do. And definitely the school shooter in Michigan, Ethan Crumbley, was making drawings and looking at ammunition ads while in class. He was pretty obvious.

But this Highland Shooter is too vague. At least, I would never link a video like this with somebody who is about to murder and injure a lot of people.

This is the meandering of a lost soul. “There is no past or future, only the now.” In many ways, yes. We live in the eternal now, no question. But our past has set us up to be wherever we are right this moment and our future is determined by what we do today. I don’t think that Bobby Crimo has figured that out yet.

Now here’s an interesting clip if you haven’t seen it. This is his uncle “who lives in the same house.” Meaning, other relatives live there? The reason I ask, is because the uncle doesn’t sound like he knows the kid at all. Does that mean there is a parent there who does?

Interesting interpretation of “no signs.” It’s not a sign of something amiss if a 21 (almost 22) year old doesn’t work or go to school, he’s just adrift? I think most people would consider that a sign of trouble. People are connected to life by their jobs, their studies, their hobbies, their affinity groups, their pets, their friends, many many things. If you find somebody who doesn’t seem to have these natural connections, you have to wonder.

This is a profile of somebody who has given up on life. Staring into the computer all day is not a bad life if you are getting people to interact with you and if you can actually turn a little coin at it. Many people do, myself included. But this kid wasn’t using it that way and he wasn’t interacting with the world outside the house, either. He was lost and obviously the adults around him either didn’t register that fact or didn’t care enough to do anything about it.

One thing Bobby Crimo did was give himself a future. Now he doesn’t have to worry. He’ll be housed and fed as a guest of the state for the rest of his life. Maybe he had some romanticized vision of what all this would be. I guess we’ll never know.

  1. A suggestion for you stupid young men. Find a closet the same dimensions as a jail cell. Lock yourself in it for a weekend with NOTHING TO AMUSE YOUR SORRY ASSES. Now subtract your age from the average of 75 years that stands as the figure you will likely be there. 75 – 22 = 53 years in your closet. Dumbass. Oh yeah, prison is a dangerous place & stupid fucks like you won’t make it that long.

    • I assume he’ll go somewhere for the criminally insane. I’m with you. I can’t imagine any of this being a better choice than he could have made if he’d just started working somewhere and built some kind of a life.

      • Apparently there are many kids who do not work. A woman running for office in New Hampshire is running with her motivation being to get the kids to go to work. It sounds like there are many more like him, “men” in their early twenties, sitting in their room or basement, living off mommy and daddy, doing nothing but staring at the computer all day.
