Take a close look at what you’re about to see because the odds of you ever seeing it again — outside of the current political climate — are slim to none. What you see are two con artists. One has attempted to outcon the other and one has won. The con artist who has won is standing there being lionized by the con artist who lost. He loves every minute of the praise but at the time time, he hates the guy praising him. Donald Trump hates Vivek Ramaswamy because he joined the same game as Trump and he’s not as good at it, but he’s also showy enough to be a threat.

Is this Vivek’s last ditch effort to get a vice presidential gig? That depends on how stupid he is. Vivek will never be on the same stage as Trump again, is my take. Trump wants him in the rear view mirror and there he will go. Fake Vivek is gone from Trump world and unless he finds himself a berth on Newsmax or the like Vivek is henceforth to be found only in the weeds of right-wing media, the obscure podcasts of the worst of the incel racists, that level of thing. Take a look at Vivek’s swansong.

I could not have put it better myself so I stole the line and corrected the spelling.

This is from an article “How Paul Ryan Used Flattery and Sucking Up To Become Trump’s Toady.”

“Ryan, ‘rising to a movie-version level of flattery and sucking up painful to witness,’ according to one senior Trump aide, was able to delay his execution,” writes Wolff, who explains: “Trump saw a chastened Ryan as suddenly and satisfyingly abject, submissive, and useful. Bannon wanted to get rid of the entire Republican establishment; Trump was wholly satisfied that it now seemed to bend to him.”

This tragically insecure president thinks anyone who praises him is intellectually sound. And Ryan poured on the praise.

After Trump’s first postelection meeting with Ryan, [writer Michael] Wolff reports, the president-elect declared: “He’s quite a smart guy. A very serious man. Everybody respects him.”

But, of course, Ryan was not as smart as Trump — or Ryan — thought.

Wolff offers the insight that Ryan was (and is) “a benighted figure who has no ability to see around corners.”

Now, of course, Ryan detests Trump. But oh, back in the day, Ryan would beam on Trump. Women were advised, “If a guy looks at you like Paul Ryan looks at Trump, marry him.” The truth of the matter is, the entire GOP is fellating Trump right now, and with some it may go beyond the metaphorical. Ask Lindsey Graham, maybe he knows.

As stated, take careful note of this, because Trump is the anti-Old Hamlet. When Hamlet’s father, Old Hamlet, died, Hamlet said, “He was a man. I shall not see his like again,” meaning he was the real thing, the kind of guy that can’t be beat, an original. In Hamlet’s case, the praise was sincere. In the case of Trump’s toadies, the line should read, “He was an orange man,” followed by their over the top fawning and drivel.

My God, how American culture has fallen in seven years. If we can only hold the line and let this tire fire burn out, we may regain our equilibrium at some point.
