The last American president to slink away from Washington in disgrace was Richard Nixon, who went home to San Clemente and wrote his memoirs. It is notable that prior to this occasion, Nixon had not built his once-private San Clemente home into a golf club and tourist attraction as Donald Trump did with Mar-a-Lago when he bought the old Marjorie Post estate and spun it out into a gilt-encrusted faux luxury resort, where they serve caviar with plastic spoons because they’re either too cheap or too stupid to use mother of pearl, like the people who know what they’re doing use.

In all events, Trump is at Mar-a-Lago now and the rumbling in town is whether it’s better to attempt to enforce the contractual agreement made years ago about guests, including Trump, only being able to spend three weeks a year at the resort, and no more than seven days consecutively or just ignore it. If the townspeople decide on enforcement, then they’re basically saying that they will evict Trump from Mar-a-Lago and then the alternative becomes that he buys another home in Palm Beach and wouldn’t that be even worse?

This is the rock and a hard place scenario that Trump’s Palm Beach neighbors find themselves in and they’re not alone. Nobody wants Trump around. It’s been a certainty for some time that he can’t return to New York.

So the neighbors need to decide whether it’s best to quarantine Trumpzilla, essentially, at Mar-a-Lago, or enforce the contractual agreement and let him loose upon the rest of Palm Beach — or someplace else in Florida.

He’s all yours, Florida. I hope you know what you’re getting into. I grew up watching ’50’s sci fi movies and it’s never a good deal for the townspeople when there’s a toxic monster penned up somewhere.

  1. Earache is making the ludicrous defence that, as the Trompador actually owns tjhe place, he can’t be classified as a ‘guest’.

However, that shouldn’t stop them demanding that the helipad be done away with – the only reason that it was permitted to begin with was that he managed to steal an election.

It could all be moot though – I do believe that the state of New York has alternative accomodation in mind

    • They could ask that the helipad be shut down and removed, as he won’t be needing it any more. Unless he’s willing to pay the fees for licensing as a commercial helipad, with all that implies.

      • The haters are gonna HATE? LOL Looks like ALL OF YOU WILL HAVE TO GROW UP …. get a GRIP CAUSE OUR PRESIDENT CAN LIVE THERE AMONGST ALL YOU CHILDREN/haters? Get a grip he owns it… if not MOVE‼️???????

  2. He does have more than a few supporters in town. From what I’ve read sentiment has changed over the past four years in that regard but for those who’ve never cared much for him the resistance has stiffened and overall things are fairly evenly divided. Supporters out in town (not club members who it’s reported are cancelling memberships) might have been willing to put up with the extra security protocols so far. However, now that the crazies have proven (on Jan. 6) that they will assemble and even attack the U.S. Capitol to show their support will I bet start showing up down there in FL. I rather doubt even the those supporters of Trump in town, who are upscale types will be please to see bands of MAGAts marching around brandishing their GUNS (which FL law allows folks to do) and generally acting like they always act! Maybe those who want to hold Trump to the terms of the agreement he signed when he acquired Mar A Lago (Ms. Post has probably been spinning in her grave ever since!) should point that out. I’m sure if there is in fact a challenge some of those goobers will show up at the hearing which of course will be public!

  3. If he stays at MAG A LARGO they need to strip it of “Club Status”. He can’t be havin’ it both ways
Either he lives their as his residence or it is a for profit club. that’s my 2 cents

    • We moved here 13 mos ago to be near our first grandchild. Except for being 8 mi away from him, there is NOTHING enlightening about Florida. Until the kids moved here in ’17, I never had any desire to visit Florida. Now I know why.

  4. I too hope that it will be a moot one. Individual One has a court appearance due to explain his actions. And then there are all the other putative interrogators at all the other courts lined up.

Worrying about where to live won’t be a concern of his for much longer.

  5. He’s already exceeded that 7-day limit by about three days. Either close the club, or make Himself pay for his own lodging somewhere else. Maybe he can stay with his kids, commuting between their homes.

  6. If Palm Beach lets him stay violating their agreement, next thing you know he’ll build a dock. He’s betting you’ll let him stay. Remember he’s a snake.

  7. My family history in the Tampa area goes back into the 1800s. If he can’t go back to NY, why is he being greenlighted to come here – Governor Ron DeSantis. FELLOW FLORIDIANS!!! THE MIDTERM ELECTIONS THIS YEAR ARE PARAMOUNT!!!! It’s our responsibility to vote out the Republicans who supported his conspiracy theories, that had devastating consequences, out of office!!!!!

    • Don’t worry the Democratic Party will implode all by itself???? You that want to live with evil can MOVE TO THE CLOSEST COMMUNIST COUNTRY????
