The first time Donald Trump evoked the image of diva Evita Peron was when he bravely walked out on the Truman balcony after he came back from being treated at Walter Reed for COVID-19, a scene which would never have taken place if he had simply been an adult and taken precautions. Now today, he’s evoking not only Evita Peron but Norma Desmond as well, talking about the “45,000 people” who came to see him last week — all those lovely people, out there in the dark. Ah yes, it’s so wonderful when you feel the love coming across the footlights again after having been consigned to the omelette bar at Mar-a-Lago for so long. Not a whole lotta love coming from the green onions and browning avocado. Must be liberal ingredients.

Now how many people were at these rallies? Crowd size is one of Trump’s obsessions, we know that all too well.
The Guardian reported that the event was expected to draw several thousand people. The Herald-Tribune reported after the rally that officials had estimated the crowd “numbered in the thousands.”
No 45K there. And the crowd numbered in the thousands as well in Ohio.
7,000 to 15,000 between the two rallies is doable. And the 15,000 number is a generous one. But at least it’s in the realm of remote possibility. Three packed NBA stadiums worth of people is not.
Let’s not forget Hunter. It’s been at least twelve hours since right-wingnuttia media has mentioned Hunter. Can’t drop that ball, got to keep it in play.

As many times as I’ve referred to Jarvanka as the reincarnation of Juan and Eva Peron it never occurred to me to think of Trump as “Evita.” Wow. That got me to thinking of MAGAts as “Descamisados” except really dumbed down stupid (or rather stoopid!) ones because at least Eva Peron actually came from poor, working class roots. Trump was born with a gold (plated) spoon up his ass but his followers think he’s a self-made rich guy when in truth he’d be a helluva lot richer if he’d just taken all the money he got from his dad and invested it. Or rather turned it over to moderately competent investors to invest on his behalf.
Oh well. Before writing anything I couldn’t resist a trip to YouTube and pulling up Mandy Patinkin singing Oh What A Circus and man oh man did it bring back some memories. I’ve seen the stage version multiple times, and now with your reference of Trump as Evita I’m thinking someone (Operatico Politico? If they still produce stuff this would be right up their alley!) should do a Trump version of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, or rather Don’t Cry For Me MAGA Nation. (I could do without shirtless Trump supporters but it would be necessary I suppose to get part of the look on-point)
There are some languages that capitalize nouns, but English isn’t one of them. Is English Trump’s first language? The same language that capitalizes nouns puts “the” in front of words we normally don’t. Trump does that, too. Speaking English as a second language is no problem: being a racist nativist is. I had to ask.
I understand Evita’s body was preserved so well, she looks pretty normal, and was stored standing in a closet for a while.
Strange things can happen when there is lots of money or power or both …
IF a really good job has been done with embalming (and the person had a circulatory system in really good shape so that the embalming fluid could diffuse well into the capillaries) and a body is kept in a temperature controlled, low-humidity place then yes, it’s rather startling how well someone can be preserved. Hell, once a year they used to allow people in Russia to visit Lenin’s tomb to view his corpse! Contrary to crap they told us when I was a kid (back in the 60s) the stuff about cutting his hair or trimming his nails because they continued to grow was b.s. What actually happened was a tiny bit of maintenance of very minor trimming of hair and buffing of nails to make him look the same because of tissue dehydration. Basically, his body shrunk a little bit which only made it look like his hair and nails had grown. Anyway, a mortician over there would team up with whomever (a beautician I suppose) to touch up his makeup and clothing each year so ole Lenin would look a spiffy. (No, they didn’t have to trim hair/nails every year! That was a rare thing)
I can’t help but think Trump is that fucking vain, and likes the idea of his admirers being able to (having of course to pay for the privilege – HE sure as hell isn’t going to cover the expenses the way the govt. of the USSR did for Lenin!) view him periodically. Of course, the maintenance on Trump will be considerably more difficult. Urine, feces and who knows what else that some people (not that I would ever piss or take a dump on his corpse – wink wink!) will frequently manage to to even at the risk of arrest and jail time will take a hefty toll on Trump’s corpse. Of course, he already looks so awful it might be hard to see the damage. At least for a while.
Oh, I just thought of something. Remember what I said about feeding that line of bullshit to kids and rubes about Lenin’s hair and nails growing so much after his death that they had to be trimmed? Well, this is TRUMP we are talking about and both he and his evil spawn are if nothing else master con-artists/grifters. You read it first here – this is an after Trump is (not a moment too soon) con sure to take place someday. “Certified” locks of Trump’s “grown after death” hair and even (gross) nail clippings being sold by his estate! MAGA nation will be drowning in that stuff! And a whole cottage industry of “fake” fake Trump hair and nail clippings will be established, along with little pieces of cloth from clothing he “wore.” Even if it’s underwear (again GROSS but you know there are goobers out there who will buy it!) as long as it has been “certified” to have been worn on special days or events!
It’s mind boggling I know, but grifters are gonna grift and while Trump HATES the thought of anyone but him getting money out of this kind of scam, another part of him LOVES it that there are enough clueless MAGAts out there who will create shrines in their homes with this stuff. Just think of the number of Darwin Award nominees that will be created by people who died trying to save this shit from their burning home! I’ll take deductions from the MAGA gene pool via this kind of idiocy.
