Donald Trump not only has a SPAC whose name is DWAC, now he wants a SCIF, from which to grift. Whut? Step lively now and pay attention. We’re in Trump world, which makes Wonderland look pedestrian by comparison, and so we have to figure out what Trump is up to now. The latest is that he wants to reestablish a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) so that he can review classified documents while sitting on the john from the comfort of his home. Now, we know that the classified documents were piled in boxes in one of the bathrooms, right? No problem. Let’s just make the bathroom a SCIF and everything should be cool, right? Sheesh, you people, you make everything so difficult. The Hill:

The filing comes after Trump requested to review evidence in the documents case at his Florida home, something prosecutors dismissed as “extraordinary” given that it is the very location where he is charged with improperly handling some of the nation’s most closely guarded secrets.

“Re-establishing the same secure area that existed during President Trump’s term as President of the United States is a secure, efficient, and cost-effective way for these conversations to take place in a fully secure environment,” his attorneys wrote in the filing Wednesday.

“President Trump requests that the Court approve the renewed use of the previously approved and appropriately secure location so that he is then able to discuss the relevant classified information with his counsel without the need to mobilize his security detail and state and local law enforcement every time he has a conversation regarding his defense as it relates to purportedly classified information.”

The filing comes as prosecutors and Trump’s team haggle over a protective order that sets guidelines for how the highly confidential records at issue in the case regarding his attempts to stay in power after the 2020 election may be reviewed.

There was such a SCIF at Mar-a-Lago, when Trump was still president, and then it was de-certified and that’s what really has him miffed. He wants to sit there and drink Diet Coke and eat French fries while he’s reviewing state secrets. And why shouldn’t he, huh? He’s still president, yes he is, yes he is, and no you can’t have that ketchup bottle! It’s mine!!!

Now what is particularly comical here is that prosecutors fought an earlier request by Trump’s lawyers for the very same thing, when he wanted to be able to review and discus evidence at either Bedminster or Mar-a-Lago. This happened just last month.

“Defendant Trump’s personal residences and offices are not lawful locations for the discussion of classified information, any more than they would be for any private citizen,” they wrote in the July filing.

“There is no basis for the defendant’s request that he be given the extraordinary authority to discuss classified information at his residence, and it is particularly striking that he seeks permission to do so in the very location at which he is charged with willfully retaining the documents charged in this case.”

I don’t think Trump will fare much better this time than he did the last. And what is his freaking problem? He’s agoraphobic now? He can’t leave home to go to a secured place and transact business like other people in his situation do? Well, actually, other people in his situation are usually incarcerated, awaiting trial, and are probably thrilled to get out of their cell and go to a SCIF, but no matter. The wheels of justice are still moving, that’s what’s important.

  1. The unmitigated gall! To think he would be trusted with a SCIF after what he did!

And I doubt that decision would be up to Cannon.

    • Unfortunately, that is exactly who will make the ruling…..per the Guardian….

“ The filing, submitted to US district court judge Aileen Cannon, was the latest twist in the back-and-forth negotiation between Trump and prosecutors in the office of special counsel Jack Smith over the protective order governing the use of what gets turned over in discovery.”

      • I know he submitted the filing to Judge Cannon, but I can’t for the life of me see how she has the authority to designate a SCIF at all, anywhere, least of all on property belonging to Trump. As far as I know, SCIF accreditation is the responsibility of the Director of National Intelligence and the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Judge Aileen Cannon is suffering from a serious case of Dunning-Kruger. SHe needs an intervention.

  2. DOJ should inform Cannon it will appeal to the 11th Circuit any SCIF she dares to grant Trump. The docs were unsafe on his property to begin with.
