Today is arguably Trump’s Last Stand. If he’s got some other plan in his back pocket to soil the final two weeks until Joe Biden’s inauguration, he isn’t telegraphing it so far. All his focus is on what Mike Pence does in a few hours. Pundits are using words like “Trampageddan” and “Trumpocalypse” to describe the idiotic final machinations of the game show host who is spending his final days in office inciting a coup d’etat under color of law.

Here’s the latest descent into madness and folly.

“All you have to do is break every law on the books, Mike, and look like a fool doing it. I don’t care if the constitution says that the electors were certified long ago and this is a done deal. You need to figure out some way to flush democracy down the drain and win this election, because this is the dramatic finish I need and lead into the next season! Or, I’m canceled, don’t you get it?!?”

And then he really got worked up and the teeny thumb hit caps lock.

Then he went offline for an hour and evidently watched Georgia election returns because when he came back it was to serve up his favorite dish, stolen election a la mode.

And if you can figure out this one, have at it. This is his latest spew.

Who’s got the ballots? Perdue’s got the ballots? Or, we’re back to suitcases under the table?

Mike Pence takes the podium at 1:00 p.m. ET. The day is just getting started and it’s off to the races. What Pence might consider is that he’s likely going to end up taking the fall for Trump.

Let’s take a poll about what life will be like at sunset today:

  1. Pence will have attempted to support Trump’s delusions and he’ll look like a fool;
  2. Pence’s own 2024 election hopes will have been dashed by Trump;
  3. The debacle at the joint session of Congress will fizzle and Cruz and Hawley will never recover from their black eyes;
  4. The debacle at the joint session of Congress will be the most cringe worthy and embarrassing thing you ever saw in politics.
  5. Something else, see my comment.

  2. I find it ironic that Trump is kinda, sorta right about Pence needing to display courage. As in the courage to follow his Oath of Office and place his loyalty to the CONSTITUTION instead of Trump. It should be that way, but Trump has made it so. Mikey Pants is filling up his drawers with brown organic matter as I write this, knowing he’s screwed no matter what he does. Following one’s duty to the Constitution and country shouldn’t be an act of courage but for Pence, standing up to Trump and simply doing what the Constitution and law prescribes will force him to summon the courage to defy Trump. What he SHOULD do is tell Trump to STFU and just accept his loss like a man & go away. And then announce to the Congress at the beginning of today’s proceedings that he’d done exactly that, and that those who plan to object should also shut the hell up (can’t drop an F-bomb on live TV) and point out that this entire process should take about a half hour so let’s get it done. Without all the posturing and trying to gain an advantage in the 2024 primaries.

  3. I will wait until the final tally is out. I hope we’re done with him for good, but I really will wait. If there’s anything I learned from all that quarantine and lockdown and stuff, it’s plain good old-fashioned patience porridge. Let us just wait. Champagne too early in the morning could mean a hangover in the afternoon.

    • Disarray is a pretty way of saying, “The Republicans are completely F****d up and using the main named co-conspirators, with Ted Cruz at the top of the list, the recovery might be beyond our concern, as the time to complete it may be measured in several 10 year intervals …”,.

      The REAL problem has been the money, huge amounts of it have driven any common sense into the ground, made ours a one-sided Congress and the so-called president played their game as well, as the Pampas Ass he has been, he was OK until REAL SMART people were needed to solve things way beyond the almost non-existent intelligence of DJT …

      His disaster after throwing out all the Obama preparations for the next pandemic was the worst decisions of ANY President EVER …

      Frankly, I don’t want to hear there are portraits of Trump or any of those fake huge crowd photos of his own lies about being the president with his hand on the bible … ANYWHERE in the WH or under the great Rotunda …

      The sooner we throw out Citizens United and stop all the dark money, the better for ordinary people … Iowa was inundated with tons of dark money and we lost Abby Finkenauer in District 1, Joni Ernst was floated back in over a qualified Dem challenger that had no way to raise the millions of dollars she was up against … it is SO WRONG that the big money owns our government, and drives our own personal finances into minimal adequacy as prices go up for meds and utilities …

If Ted Cruz can go from calling Trump a lying bastard, making gun bacon and defend Trump at every turn and still run for president in the future, Pence can too, no matter what he does or doesn’t do. Republican voters clearly don’t care. Look how many voted Republican in this Georgia Senate race.

  7. I agree with Trump 0.0002% of the time (nachos are good, Jeff Sessions is annoying, etc). In this case, I’ll agree with the words if not the sentiment. This IS a moment for courage. The courage to do what’s right, the courage to back democracy even when you lose, or the courage to lead your base instead of following it off a cliff.

    • What about the planned plane trip over-seas 1-19-2021, using the AFII plane ?

      Maybe Trump is headed out to hide out? He IS the worst coward and to face his failures in full color and Hi-Fi sound bytes from every media source in the world, will devastate his rapidly failing mind …

      • Don’t know if you’ve seen this yet but Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister (ie honchesse) of Scotland, has announced that no one, Trump included, is allowed to enter Scotland during the pandemic lockdown, unless they are on “essential business”. She pointed out that “golfing is not essential business”, nor, presumably, is fleeing the scemne of his crimes.
