I hope that if any of the GOPers are having nightmares about their future, that they cast their memories back to 2016 when not only were horrified Democrats saying, “The Republicans own this shitshow. They produced it and directed it and cast it,” but even their own people, Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham, most notably, were saying that if Donald Trump was elected it would mark the doom of the party and deservedly so.

Today, in an incredible display of sheer malice and abject stupidity, even for him, Trump went for Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s throat. Baker is part of a rare breed. He’s a Republican governor in a state with two Democratic senators, Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren. Yet, everything works well in the Commonwealth. It’s a testimony to the sanity of the two party system. In the past 20 years, five out of six Massachusetts governors elected were Republicans. they were moderates. And they appealed to Democratic moderates. In recent polls Baker scored higher with Democratic voters than Republicans.

And probably, for that very reason, because it’s all working so well in Massachusetts, Trump can’t leave it alone. So he gave his hearty endorsement to Geoff Diehl, as a primary candidate to unseat Baker. By any political yardstick, this is madness. Sheer madness.

As you well know, Trump is taking his best shot at Brian Kemp. Maybe that will flip that gubernatorial seat. And maybe his going for Charlie Baker’s throat will flip this one. Who knows? I think the only thing that can be said with certainty is that Trump is like a plague of termites, undermining the foundation of the GOP. Either they fumigate and get rid of him, which they don’t seem inclined to do, or he destroys their house.

Maybe one of his evangelical wingnut allies should acquaint him with the applicable scripture: “He who bothereth in his own house shall inherit the wind.” And a howling, cold wind it is at that.

  1. WELL, Ursula, Trump is now exhibiting his massive talents … Apparently, he can wolf-down Whoppers, with frys and a Coke, still breathing, with both feet in his mouth …

His considerable talent to view the big picture in high definition, full color, well thought out statements, based on facts and GOP solid support, NOT !!

I think he may be using drugs … his Narcissism is the bear trap he cannot escape, he’s done for, New York State and City have some unpleasant business for him that may enter him into a long vacation from home …

    So sad … LOL-ROF 🙂 🙂

  2. Wait a minute. Did anyone else see the truly Bizarro world bit in that endorsement?

“Baker . . . has totally botched the vaccination rollout.”

Really? A GOP endorsement suggesting a GOP governor “botched” the vaccination rollout when you’ve got GOP governors across the nation (and even a former GOP President Trump) who opposed the very notion of anyone getting vaccinated.
