Trumpty Dumpty is feeling very threatened right now. He’s annoyed at having spent hours in deposition and the prospect of having to spend hours more. He’s also greatly annoyed at the fact that Liz Cheney, whom he detests, and the January 6 Select Committee keep persevering to get the truth from both himself and Steve Bannon.
Trumpty was so miffed that shortly after Liz Cheney addressed the House he released this.
In debate on the January 6 investigation today on the House floor, Democrats are repeatedly bringing up this new statement from Donald Trump. Rep. Jim Clyburn D-SC says the "Big Lie" is just like the "Lost Cause" after the Civil War. pic.twitter.com/NDNHdjKrYq

This is a horrific statement and it’s being taken as such. And it certainly is not the first time Trump has come up with it. This appears to be his main plank for 2024 and it’s not being received well today, that much is certain.
Donald Trump tried to overthrow American democracy after he lost his election by 7 million votes, but nearly a year later, he's still lying. About all of it.
Today's edition: "The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!"

Listen to Liz Cheney speak and you’ll hear what likely triggered Trump’s latest childish and petulant outburst. I daresay he didn’t like the word “plot” which she attributed to himself, Rudy Giuliani, Steve Bannon and John Eastman. And I’m sure he went bonkers when she spoke of considering, “additional and more severe consequences for this type of behavior,” directly referencing Trump’s incitement of the riot and the fact that he sat there and watched it on TV.
Trump issues a chilling statement just now that makes clear his stance on peaceful democracy vs. violent insurrection:
"The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!"

Trump doubles down with latest statement:
“The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!”
This is the position of the widely embraced leader of the GOP. Republicans all behind that?
— Peter Elkind (@peterelkind) October 21, 2021
As Murfster pointed out yesterday, this is the ride the GOP bought and they’re still on it. The January 6 Select Committee is ground zero in the culture war. The Committee will spell out what happened, or Trump will be able to continue to bluster. The Committee is the irresistible force to Trump’s immovable object.
Most protests don’t break into closed buildings with the intent of interrupting *and harming* people who are inside doing legitimate legal business.
Apparently, Trump and the right-wing only have problems when protestors unexpectedly break into private businesses and engage in stealing property, but not when protestors deliberately break into public buildings with the intent of disrupting and harming the people inside.
Perfect assessment, Joseph!
Maybe if u put a red hot branding iron on his ass, he might come clean…nah. u can’t ask a pig in a red hat to fly. Nevermind. He won’t be muttering ‘rosebud’ with his last putrid breath. It will more likely be ‘fake news’.
The Culture War has been fought and already lost by these fools. Cheney knows that. It’s why she’s exactly where she is right now, well away from the upcoming fallout. McCarthy may have actually done her a favor by pushing her out of the leadership. It puts her in a prime position to take over the machinery once the losses for the GQP pile up high enough (and they will).
That’s REALLY what Trump is pissed about, I suspect. Not just that he got called out but that she’s primed to take away his latest grifting tool.
She has balls. Trump is a worthless pile of goo.
