It’s fairly rare that I read a straight news story that reduces me to tears, but this one did. Greg Gianforte, the Republican governor of Montana, is a cold hearted, vicious prick. You can tell him I said so. If I ever had the opportunity to tell him so to his face, that would be a red letter day in my life. I hate this man.

Read this account of his latest murder of a beautiful cat in the Washington Post, and you’ll understand why I feel this way.

The mountain lion hunt, which has not been previously reported, occurred on Dec. 28 on a swath of U.S. Forest Service land southwest of Emigrant, Mont., according to residents familiar with the episode who spoke on the condition of anonymity to preserve relationships in the community. Less than a year earlier, Gianforte killed a Yellowstone wolf in a similar area that was wearing a tracking collar, prompting an outcry among environmentalists.

The 5-year-old mountain lion was wearing a GPS-tracking collar that Yellowstone biologists use to monitor the rare and elusive predators. Park staff knew the animal by its research number: M220. […]

Some Montanans have raised questions about the tactics employed during the hunt. One person familiar with the incident told The Post that the mountain lion was kept in the tree by the hunting dogs for a couple of hours while Gianforte traveled to the site in the Rock Creek drainage area. In neighboring Wyoming, detaining a mountain lion in a tree until another hunter arrives is illegal.

Let us pause here for a moment. You all recall the famous photo with Donald Trump, Jr. and brother Eric holding up the corpse of a leopard they had killed. This was not done via some manly safari. The Trump brothers are not Bwana, the Great White Hunter and neither is this prick Gianforte. These endangered species animals are trapped and tormented. Then one of these goons pulls the trigger because apparently we have two species of sentient life on this planet and one of us, who tends to vote Republican, thinks it’s a stone cold gas to take the life of a beautiful creature in the wild.

Make no mistake. This is NOT the Code of the West or the way things were done in the olden days. Then, if somebody had to protect himself, think Davey Crockett or Lewis & Clarke, while taming the wilderness, they would shoot a wolf or a mountain lion on a kill or be killed basis. Wolves and mountain lions weren’t endangered species then and the dynamic was entirely different. Now, we have a generation of the most low-life, vicious perverts on this planet and they love to have somebody trap these endangered species because it gives them an erection to show up in their jeeps and murder the helpless animal.

They are SICK!

There’s more to the Gianforte saga.

The hunting site was located close to the Point of Rocks Ranch, where Gianforte trapped and killed the Yellowstone wolf last year. That ranch is owned by Robert E. Smith, who is a co-director of the Sinclair Broadcast Group, a Maryland-based company that owns or operates nearly 200 local television stations across the country. Smith has donated to Gianforte in the past.

Birds of a feather. Of course one of the disinformation kings who is polluting this culture with lies and selling America down the river, would find it a gas to kill endangered species. Not a surprise in the least. The surprise would be if it was the other way around and the owner of Sinclair broadcasting objected to such behavior.

Conservationists have been outraged by Gianforte’s personal hunting exploits as well as his support of controversial pro-hunting laws that passed last year. One law mandated a cut in the state’s wolf population and prompted regulations freeing up hunters to kill wolves just outside Yellowstone’s boundaries. In the past six months, 25 Yellowstone wolves have been killed — a record for one year — all but six of them in Montana.

“The consequences are severe for wolves,” said Dan Wenk, who was Yellowstone National Park superintendent from 2011 to 2019.

“We almost never see a mountain lion,” said Nathan Varley, a biologist who leads wildlife viewing tours in Yellowstone. “They’re just too secretive. They usually only move around at night. They love to hide. They just don’t sit out in the open very much.”

You blame them? I wouldn’t sit out in the open either if some sick Republican fuck was lying in wait, hoping for a chance to exterminate me and drive my species that closer to extinction on this planet.

There is something wrong with a man and I say “man” although there are sick women who participate in this activity, who gets a thrill from killing trapped animals.

I have a cartoon image of my mind of the animals turning the table and of how the world would be a better place if the Greg Gianfortes were hunted to the point of extinction. I see the mountains lions and the wolves in this cartoon, doing to this bozo what he has done to them. I’d volunteer to drive the lions’ and wolves’ jeeps to deliver the coup de grace.

I am LIVID!

  1. And Gianforte was convicted of assault in state court in June 2017 stemming from his election-eve body-slamming attack on The Guardian political reporter Ben Jacobs in May 2017. He was fined and sentenced to community service and anger management therapy.

So in a line from ‘Naked Gun’, he certainly seems in touch with his anger.

  2. Remember this is the party that celebrates a punk armed with an AR-15, who shot dead two unarmed people. They are heartless. They are morons. They have no soul I can discern. They walk in darkness & evidently that’s where they will remain. I’ve camped all over the west. There are a lot of people living there who are armed, but would never agree to this slaughter.

    • The grey wolf was removed from the Endangered Species List in early 2021 as there are now approximately 6000 in nine states. The process of removing them was initiated under the previous administration and wasn’t without controverse for more than one reason. For example 6000 across nine states is hardly a thriving population and the bulk of what was once wolf habitat has no wolves at all. Second, some of the states with those wolves have engaged in aggressive plans to allow not only killing wolves believed to threaten livestock but to “hunt” them like the p.o.s. Gov. in this article. Basically, conditions are set up to put them back on the list within years and not that many years. Mountain Lions aren’t on the Endangered List ether although they are considered a vulnerable species and some states have enacted protections. Some indivdual species of the broader category “mountain lion” have in fact gone extinct. Also, like wolves only a few thousand are left and in only part of the country. They too are subject to increased pressure from those who view any mountain lion they encounter anywhere a threat to their livestock, and also from “hunters.” I grew up hunting and continued until disability stopped me from boonie stomping. What this asshole Gov. and his type do is NOT hunting. It’s wanton killing. If he/they want to hunt then by god hunt. Pack up and carry your gear into the wild and actually hunt. Challenge yourself physically and test your woods/wilderness skills. As for me I believe you shouldn’t kill anything you don’t plan to eat but that’s a longer discussion. My main point is that while you are technically correct something being legal doesn’t make it right. (How often have we seen that in the financial sector in recent decades?) And a species not being on the Endangered List doesn’t mean it’s in good shape and will thrive.

      • I call them punks with guns, trying to fill the deep inadequate feelings that maybe they just aren’t real men. Pathetic.

  3. They all think they’re above the law. His walls are proof he’s a evil person put this asshole in a cage with a few of these cats with 2 hands ni GUNS etc.. see how long is ass will last. Leave our animals alone it’s sad that the only way for humans to see such animals is in zoos maybe man needs to be in zoos let animals look and point at us awhile. Sorry God for such evil unworthy people…

  4. Can’t say what I’d like to say about Gianforte, it got me banned from Twitter. But I can tell you, a sharp knife helps.
