This would be truly pathetic if it weren’t so hysterical. Having absolutely nothing left to run on, mainly because they turned a once proud political party into a global laughing stock. The GOP, thanks to Trump, has settled on culture wars as a dead sure way to rile up the base. Maybe so, but not anybody else.
The funny thing is that they’ve been all over the place, depending on whatever petty thing pisses Trump off on any particular day. But they have gone from critical health issues such as vaccines and mask mandates for schools, to the long term dangerous like immigrant rights and accurate history content in school texts, to the whimsical, such as critical race theory and Sesame Street and Dr. Seuss. They’re like a bunch of frogs jumping around in a blender.
In a rally last week, El Pendejo Presidente actually encouraged his crowd to boo the US Women’s Olympic Soccer team. The team, which hadn’t lost an Olympic game since Noah took up ship building, finally showed they were human and laid an egg in their opening match. No problem, they came back a couple of days later and steamrolled a better opponent just to show everybody they still took this seriously. But the loss irritated Traitor Tot, and he ranted against the women’s team.
This was a serious tactical error, and Trump and the GOP are playing with fire here. After all, there is a perfectly good reason that pollsters refer to the mammoth pool of white, high school and college educated, suburban women as soccer moms. It’s because at least three times a week, they take their kids, girls every bit as much as boys, to soccer practice, and then spend 2 hours on a Saturday watching the games. Whether it’s the US Olympic Women’s soccer team, or the US Women’s World Cup soccer team, these women are literally the Masters of the Universe in the women’s sporting world. They are heroes to US women everywhere, and to their daughters that dream of following in their footsteps. Bashing US women’s soccer is not the way to curry favor with these voters. And the suddenly fickle nature that they showed to the GOP in 2018 and 2020 is already making GOP gerrymandering a riskier proposition.
The longer that Trump is marginalized on the sidelines, and the fainter his footprint in the national media becomes, the more unhinged he becomes. He obsessively follows far right conspiracy theories, and spouts them out. So, what next? Does Trump get into a pissing contest with driver Kyle Bush, hold a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida, and urge his fans to boo NASCAR? Come on dude, fun is fun, but what the fuck! Talladega rules!
Look, Trump has already made it clear that he plans to be a major campaign force on the road for the 2022 midterm elections. A Biden success on a bipartisan infrastructure bill, it will drive Trump insane. And since both Trump as well as the GOP have already learned that they can’t attack Biden directly, Trump will have to find other outlets for his outrage. How much do you wanna bet that Trump ends up settling up on topics that royally piss off the supporters he desperately needs? Don’t touch that dial.

Not only the soccer moms, but also many minority voters are soccer fans. You live in the southwest, and you know about Madrid Real, and Guadalajara (Chivas) and on and on.
These asshats are not even trying to hide their misogyny and racism anymore and it is really coming across loud an clear during this year’s olympics. I hope everyone, particularly suburban women, remember this disdain and hatred next election.
