This is brand new. Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC just broke that the Department Of Justice just filed an appeal in federal court. It’s why they filed the appeal that is so provocative.

You likely remember that not all that long ago Oath Kreepers founder Elmer Stuart Rhoades was convicted of Seditious Conspiracy, along with several lesser charges. In its sentencing argument, the prosecution requested that Rhoades receive 24 years in federal prison. The presiding judge ended up sentencing Rhoades to 18 years in prison.

And that’s what the DOJ just went to court to appeal to the DC Circuit Appellate court. The prosecutors feel ripped off, and they want their six years back, along with more if they can get it. Under federal sentencing guidelines judges have wide latitude in evaluating and pronouncing their sentences, so why bother?

I think I know. why. A day or so ago, former DOJ Assistant AG and lead Mueller prosecutor Andrew Weissman tweeted out that according to his sources, it was likely that Special Counsel Jack Smith would announce federal indictments in the January 6th investigation in the next two weeks. I already thought the same thing. Fulton County DA Fani Willis has already pegged the first two weeks of August for her indictment announcement. Smith is going to want to beat her to the punch, in order to get Trump on the federal docket ahead of her going into an election year.

And if Weissman and I are right, and Smith drops the hammer on Trump in the next couple of weeks, then you had better get ready for a long press conference. Because this isn’t going to be like the Mar-A-Lago announcement, where Smith came out and announced 37 charges against Traitor tot, and more against his valet Walt Nauta. This is Smith’s shining moment, and he’s going to use it for maximum effect.

Look for Smith to announce a laundry list of criminal charges against Trump lowlifes like Roger Stone, Mark Meadows, Steve Bannon, John Eastman, Peter Navarro, and Boris Epsteyn, possibly among others. This is the crescendo of the DOJ’s J6 investigation, and Smith is going to want to wrap it all up in a bow. Look for Trump to be tried alone, or at most with Meadows, and let the lower and mid level miscreants be tried either individually or in small clumps where they intersect. And don’t be surprised if Smith refers several state legislators to their local US Attorneys for possible prosecution.

If I’m right, this means that sometime in the net couple of weeks we’re going to have a literal rogues gallery of low, middle, and high ranking Trump advisors all under indictment. And facing some serious time in a federal diaper pail, not Club Fed. And they’re going to be dithering on whether or not to roll over on His Lowness and cut their losses.

And their lawyers, if they have the IQ of turnips, would be remiss in not pointing out to their clients that the DOJ went to the mattresses against a mastermind like Elmer Stuart Rhoades, and when they didn’t get the sentence they wanted, they took the unusual step of appealing the sentence to the appellate court for more hard time. What do they think that the DOJ will do with a bunch pf high level insiders like them if they’re convicted?

If I’m right, and I think I am, this is a master class mind f*ck. The DOJ doesn’t really care if they squeeze six more years out of Rhoades, he’s already going to be in his late 60’s if he gets out in 18 years. They’re sending the Federal freshman class of 2023 that they’re not d*cking around here. They will hound them to the gates of hell if they don’t have a Come to Jesus moment, and the clock is ticking. First one in gets the best deal. We’ll know soon enough.
