The Democrats Have A New Albatross To Hang Around The GOP’s 2024 Neck

We’re still 18 months until the 2024 elections, and already the GOP is calling Tire Works to tow their bus in for new tires, since the old ones have all fallen off.

In a series of special elections and mayoral elections, the GOP got Wookie stomped. In Jacksonville, Florida and Colorado Springs, Colorado, a Democrat and an independent flipped what had been the largest and sixth largest US cities with GOP Mayors. Colorado Springs is especially satisfying since the independent is an African American, and Colorado Springs is where the true story that became BlacKKKlansman Actually happened. Which tells you all you need to know. And in PA, the Democrats won a special election to maintain their one seat power in the PA House.

Chris Hayes did a great job tonight in showing that the GOP in these mayoral and special elections were running the identical playbook they ran in 2022 following the overturning of Roe v Wade. They got hammered then too, and it was the first real bell weather of disaster to come for the GOP in the midterms. Apparently they’ve learned nothing.

Starting in 2018, there has been the discussion as to whether to hang Trump around the GOP’s neck or not. My person al feelings haven’t changed. Local Democrats win when they speak to women voters, and when they talk about kitchen table issues. They don’t need Trump. As I said in the joke at the top, Trump came pre-spoiled. Everybody knows him, and everybody hates him. Leave him alone, he’ll only glom all of the media anyway and make your points for you.

Earlier today in a vote engineered and forced by the Democrats, the entire GOP House caucus voted unanimously to let habitual liar and 4rd rate con man George Santos continue to befoul the halls of congress. They defeated a Democratic led expulsion vote, since they can’t live without Santos’ vote. The effect was already pretty much predetermined, but there was a beautiful method to Hakeem Jeffries act of futility.

18 months before election day, the House Democrats locked in on the record the votes of every GOP incumbent on Santos. As long as he toes the voting line, every member of the GOP House caucus is willing to hold their noses and sit next to Santos, even though he’s an admitted serial liar, and under 13 counts in a federal indictment.

Now, George Santos is somebody that the national Democratic party can hang around the neck of every single GOP incumbent or challenger. Because while by this time Santos is almost certainly as notorious as Glorious Bleater, he hasn’t spent the last seven years personally pissing everybody off. He’s a new freak show.

Here’s why Santos can be so effective for the Democrats nationwide in 2024. With El Pendejo Presidente, for all of his shortcomings, everything was massive personal, business, or political corruption. It was cheap, it was craven, but it was also anonymous, there were no personal victims to martyr. All banks and foreign countries.

Back in the 1930’s and 40’s, common thugs like Bonnie and Clyde, Ma Barker, John Dillinger and George Baby Face Nelson became Depression folk heroes for Sticking it to the banks! They became modern day Robin Hoods, except they kept the money for themselves instead of giving it to the poor.

But nobody likes a slimy creep. And George Santos is so slimy that slugs pour salt on him. Who in their right minds can admire a cheap coward who;

• Stole expensive jewelry from a female friend in Brazil under the guise that he’d safeguard it for her because her neighborhood was dangerous, and took off never to be seen again
• Name one respectable person, legitimate or criminal, who steals a series of personal checks from an elderly tailor who just happens to be a family friend, and then cashes them and buys himself expensive shoes, clothes, and jewelry
• And if that didn’t already do it, what kind of a slimy punk preys on a combat disabled Navy vet with PTSD, setting up and administering a Go Fund Me page to raise money for the vet’s cancer stricken service dog, and then absconds off with some $5000, letting the dog die

This is why the Democrats can use Santos so effectively nationally. There’s no Robin Hood here, and no American folk hero bad guy. Just the cheapest kind of street thug, who preys on the trusting, the elderly, an the vulnerable. And today every GOP member of the House voted that they’re just fine being professionally associated with that kind of sleaze.

Here’s a mondo early 2024 prediction. You want to know what the chances are of the Democrats flipping the House? Watch the results from the battleground districts in the New York city and suburb environs.

Even before Santos was indicted, six members of the New York congressional delegation had all come forward and called on Santos to resign. Their districts either directly bordered Santos’s, or were nearby, and Santos was killing them with their own constituents. And yet, when they had the chance to stand tall and vote their convictions, every one of them voted to keep Santos around. They hypocrisy is deafening. My prediction is that by the time election day rolls around, New York swing district voters will be more familiar with George Santos’ criminal history than their no good brother-in-law’s.

And every Democratic incumbent and challenger in the predicted 55-65 critical swing districts can burn Santos like kindling. Democratic incumbents can proudly point to their vote to get the worst kind of scum out of congress, and every challenger can hang the Santos vote around the neck of their GOP opponent. People in those swing districts are also going to feel like jurors on the Santos criminal trial by the time election day comes along.

Look, forget about Trump. He is what he is, and his reputation is already baked in the cake, depending on who you talk to. But George Santos is such a sniveling scumbag, and such an unsympathetic character that his fruit is hanging so low you’ll have to bend over to pick it. When the opposition gives you a gift like this, it’s political malpractice not to use it.
