There is no doubt in my mind that psychology students of the future will be writing Ph.D. theses on why a certain portion of America became so enamored with a trust fund baby swindler as to elect him president and then form a cult around him. Another rally is scheduled today, this time in South Carolina and the faithful are gathering.

Now if you listened to that, perhaps you’re having the same reaction that I am, which is to not know whether to laugh or to cry. This poor woman honestly believes that Trump would make life better and she’s oblivious to the damage he’s done or the damage he could do. I guess we can only hope and pray — as I do, every time I hear somebody like this — that the intelligent Americans outnumber the stupid or all of us are toast.

This one learned the stupid early on. One can only hope that as time goes by she’ll learn better, but I don’t know. The teachings of childhood are very hard to overcome for some people. I give it a 50/50 shot if that.
And I remind you that a lot of the deaths at Jonestown were children. Their parents gave them the kool-aide and they drank it and died. They never had a chance to make an adult decision about what to believe or who to follow. That is true tragedy.

It’s not always childhood teachings. My sister and I were both raised by progressive parents. Sister is in the GQP cult now because they watch FUX/Newsmax and believe the b.s. I hadn’t talked to my FU sister since July last year. They did an ambush visit two days ago with her daughter and grand daughter. Pretty sure daughter wanted to see us. I spent time with daughter/grand daughter. Hubby talked to sis/bil.
BIL started the California b.s. that in two years we’ll have someone at our door to take away our gas lawn mower, blah blah blah. What happened? I don’t know. I only know that they are angry, and fearful, and want confirmation that they are right!
Hey what’s your problem with Jonestown? Sure they left everything to follow a preacher. Sure they swallowed everything he preached. Sure they poured cyanide down their children’s throats. What’s that whirring noise I’m hearing? Oh, I know, it’s Jesus spinning in his grave. These folks are probably good people, but they have been raised on bullshit from birth and have no capacity to critically evaluate facts. They will follow their corrupt pastors like lemmings and be fleeced like sheep. Get them early enough and the brain simply doesn’t develop normally. Unfortunately, I’m not exaggerating. Fortunately, this part of the demographic is in decline.
The only thing I have to say with regards to the 11-year old is “And these people are out there accusing the gays and trans folks with ‘grooming’.” I suppose it must be true, after all, that every right-wing accusation is merely projection of their own behaviors.
The ‘diversity’ of the crowd is quite marked isn’t it?
