Even Mussolini could keep the lights on and the trains running on time, but not Greg Abbott. Uh, uh. He has a continual and ongoing problem with the power grid. He’s got nuclear reactors that go offline.

Texas is noted for extreme weather and if it’s winter, the grid goes down. Last year children were literally freezing to death in bed. If it’s summer, the grid goes down. And this goes on year after year. And Greg Abbott gets on Fox News and talks about the border, China, you name it, anything not to have to deal with the real world problems of the state he’s elected to serve as governor.

So now it’s the middle of summer 2022, and here’s what that looks like.

If she does get raccoons, I hope they’re not rabid. Or this could happen:

You know, it’s a drag someone broke in and stole the electronics and other valuables.

But that’s not the issue: everything in the house is contaminated with flesh eating bacteria.

But that’s not the real problem: there is a family of rabid raccoons living in the basement, after they got in through the dog door.

Not that that matters: the bank is foreclosing on the house anyway.

Well fuck them, the house is sitting on top of a heap of toxic waste.

Not a problem: the house is now on fire.

If only I could get away: the engine in my car seized up.

As I walk away, I get shot by a cop.

Many thanks to Bubbanomics at Daily Kos, who wrote that in 2017.

State and county taxes in Texas are higher than those in California and California’s are among the highest in the country. Moral of the story: If Texas isn’t Hell and Greg Abbott isn’t Satan, they’ll do until the real thing comes along. Please elect Beto O’Rourke and start over.

    Minor nitpick but it’s “O’Rourke” (not “O’Roarke”).

Beyond that, let’s remember the voters also need to focus on their own “down-ballot” races. The Governor of Texas, despite running the 2nd largest state by area and population, is probably one of the weakest governors in terms of powers. For an O’Rourke govenorship to really do anything of note, he needs Democrats elected to the offices of Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General and enough to change the Legislature’s right-wing composition (the LtGov and Legislature elections are probably more crucial simply because of the Legislature’s control over the budget–and the LtGov presides over the Senate; GOPers rule the Senate 18-13 and the House 85-65).

    • Thanks for pointing out the goof. I agree with your analysis. The development that I find alarming is that Hispanics are supposedly voting Republican more and more, which to me is sheer madness. It’s like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders.

      • Blame Spanish speaking right wing radio. Race, language, & culture are no guarantees to keep someone from believing propaganda.

    • If one race flips it will be attorney general, paxton is just mired in criminality. He also polls way lower than even abbott. lets see how the gerrymandering goes in the Texas house and senate. flip a senate seat and a couple house seats changes the dynamics a lot.

  2. I read while Abbott was encouraging bit coin mining companies to set up operations here, they have toned down their equipment temporarily. Obviously they have really increased the demand on the grid.

  3. Here’s a thought, If they stop committing crimes, they won’t suffer in prison, as if suffering prisoners, matters, to a vast, majority of Texans. For every 1 Texan, that might care, there are 10,000 Texans that never will, care. They would, prefer Death sentence, for any crime.

A lot of things in Texas are Big, but the People aren’t big on Empathy, or Sympathy, for anyone. Whatever happens to you, is your own fault, and Texans will not care about your suffering. Haha its comical to think about Texans caring about anything but themselves. Their big on that.

Attempting to gain empathy from Texans by pulling on the non-existent heart strings, of suffering prisoners, is exactly, how you don’t get the power grid, fixed, upgraded, replaced, whatever your end game is, nothing will change, or be fixed.

Keep going with the Suffering prisoners angle, that might, get the Power grid fixed, and, I will, have been dead, for a 1,000 years.

Attempting to play off Texans idea of Sympathy and Empathy is really, hilarious. Hahah For every One Texan that cares, 10,000 Don’t and never will.

    • What you say is I’m sure the plain reality of the matter. Making prisons comfortable is not high on anybody’s agenda. I’m not saying prisons should rival the Marriott, just not be freaking hell holes.

  4. Beto broke records in fundraising with 27 million plus last quarter. He is also being more friendly to down ballot candidates with data etc which he did not do in 2018 against cruz. This is key because local candidates can get local people out. Beto is down 5 points and closing and abbott is still under 50% as an incumbent, numbers that allow the challenger to snap up undecideds. and abbott has swung so far right, he has left even right center to the left to Beto.

  5. Forgot to add this:

    Have a nice day!
