“Stay Out Of A Room With 15 Hostile Lawyers” Newt Gingrich Tells Trump

Newt Gingrich, Mr. Impeachment Himself, told CBS News:

“If a president was dumb enough to pardon himself, that would be such an arrogant statement of power that the House would probably impeach him in a week and the Senate would convict him.”

Rudy Giuliani defended Trump’s “absolute power” tweet by saying, “He’s not a lawyer.” Gingrich goes on to say that Trump is a “storyteller” and “entertainer” who knows that “churning works.”

Both Giuliani and Gingrich have addressed the issue of Trump “making mistakes” when under oath.  Rudy told Chris Cuomo, “That’s the danger of going under oath, you can make a mistake.” Telling the truth is a way to avoid making a mistake, but whatever.

“If he makes any mistake that becomes grounds for either obstruction or perjury,” said Gingrich. He added, “he should tell the truth but he also likes to tell stories and sometimes his stories stretch things.”

“Sometimes his stories stretch things” is an interesting way to say that Trump is a liar.  Finally Gingrich counsels Trump thusly:

[be] “extraordinarily cautious about ending up in a room where you have 15 hostile lawyers trying to play gotcha.”

Oh, my. 13 angry Democrats and 15 hostile lawyers. What’s poor Donald to do?
