Rick Wilson Responds To Trump’s Meltdown Over LP’s Border Ad

It’s not exactly secret that the Lincoln Project lives rent free inside Trump’s head. I think them for doing so because I sure as hell wouldn’t want to spend time in there searching through the blob of worm infested feces that takes up the space where Trump’s brain should be! So, we should all give thanks to Wilson, his cohorts at the Lincoln Project and while I’m at it our very own Politizoom stalwarts Ursula and Murfster who regularly pay visits to that awful place to try and provide some understanding of what the hell goes on in that not at all “very fine brain” of Trump’s.

So why am I writing. As The Meidas Touch Network reports Trump had himself another late night freak out over a new ad by The Lincoln Project.  I’m sure anyone reading this knows about the border legislation that Trump ordered killed. Senators worked across the aisle for months to craft it. Also, his claims to the contrary Speaker Johnson WAS in the loop, if not the actual negotiations. He was in regular contact with GOP Senator Lankford who headed up the GOP side, being kept abreast of where things stood and able to make suggestions.

Remember this too: the only reason all this was going on is that Republicans in both the House and Senate refused an aid package for Ukraine. And when the Hamas terrorist attack happened aid to Israel also became an urgent need and on top of that there was a need for extra money to shore up things in the Pacific to tamp down China’s thoughts about making a move on Taiwan. The GOP decided to hold urgent international and national security needs hostage to “crack down on the border.” Ok, so there is also some national security concern over inadequate border protection.

Anyway, that was the deal. No aid to Ukraine or Israel (or bolstering our presence in the Pacific) unless we got a border bill far tougher than anything that’s been seen to date. Or at least in our lifetimes. And despite the political cost (in an election year where turnout will be so critical) President Biden gave our team cover to craft a bill with real teeth. The GOP went into the negotiations with demands. Which eventually were met. For our part we wanted more than more border patrol agents (the GOP’s “biggie”) and detention facilities, we wanted more immigration judges to process asylum claims and more people qualified to assess whether claims met the criteria for asylum. To reduce the time for processing down to months instead of years.

What emerged was a bill that Lankford, a true hard core conservative said was more than the GOP had ever dreamed of. And almost immediately he started getting attacked. For a while McConnell provided cover and others too, saying even when they controlled the House, Senate and the WH they could never have gotten something like it. And probably won’t ever have a chance to again. However, the system IS a mess and because he believes chaos at the border on on immigration in general will help him Donald Trump issued marching orders.

KILL IT.

Trump was public about it too. Once the order was given other Republicans openly said they were opposed because either they didn’t want to give Biden a “win” or that chaos would be a good campaign issue for them and more importantly for Trump. Or both. They also made it clear that they will spend the time between now and November blaming all the problems, the chaos on Democrats. As I told my (GOP) Senators and a Congressman who happens to be from my  hometown (even after all these decades if the aid told him my name and what I said he’d remember me) “How stupid to you think voters are? You are literally telling voters won’t fix the border because Trump told you not to, and at the same time telling us you’re going to blame doing what you say Trump told you to do on Biden and Democrats!”

Yes, they think voters are that stupid. In fact they’re counting on it. The scary part is that it will to a significant degree be effective. Tens of millions of voters are indeed that f**king stupid. Which is why Lincoln Project put out this:

Trump hates the truth of course. But he’s especially triggered when someone goes and tells the truth on HIM. Predictably he reacted just how you’d expect, taking to his Truth Social for a rant.

Unfortunately for Trump Rick Wilson was ready for this kind of nonsense, and wasted no time making a post to yank Trump’s chain some more.

Trump has a busy week in front of him. The last thing he should do is get into a back and forth with Wilson over this and call voters attention to it. It will be interesting to see if Trump is able to bring himself to let this one go.
