Poor Lindsey. He’ll get swatted with a newspaper for this, maybe put outside on the patio, possibly without supper. You can’t be both Donald Trump’s lapdog and be caught on tape criticizing him, too. Doesn’t work.
The two New York Times reporters who revealed Kevin McCarthy’s post-riot remarks have now come forward with tape of Lindsey Graham.
This sounds like the old Graham, pre-alien mind conversion to MAGA.
The tragic part of this is what’s mentioned, right at the end, about McConnell, McCarthy, all of them thinking that now it was finally over and Trump had discredited himself. But they “didn’t know their voters.”
Whether they didn’t know their voters is debatable. It’s entirely possible that if McConnell and McCarthy had stuck to their guns and put country over party, that the MAGAs might have fallen in line with GOP leadership. They’re not original thinkers, let’s put it that way. They’re not thinkers at all.
But GOP leadership, after a bit of initial resistance, went right back to their Trump loving ways and that’s where they have remained.
This is the true tragedy, that the GOP has a vacuum of leadership and has had for some time. That’s why the mouthy orange buffoon was able to come in and take over so easily, no other reason.
It’s your party, Lindsey, so you can cry. We would cry, too, if we were you. You’ve sold your soul and for what?
