Putin’s Propaganda Machine Is Falling Apart. And I Think He Knows It

You know, once upon a time long ago, say 35 days, it was so easy for Putin and his propaganda machine. You could invade, shoot anything that moved, and then blame it on the fog or war. And then, when he started getting his ass kicked, they could set up safe quadrants, and start lobbing long distance artillery shells, bombs, and rockets into populated civilian cities, and blame it on the fortunes of war. No blame there, huh?

But now the wheels are coming off of the Putin propaganda bus. Because now his troops are getting their asses kicked to the point that they’re physically retreating from territory they held for weeks. And Ukrainian troops are retaking those villages and towns, and they are discovering the atrocities that were committed there.

For our purpose, let’s let’s just look at the town of Bucha, a suburb of Kyiv. The Russians overtook it early on the original push to encircle Kyiv, and held it for weeks. But earlier this week, they skedaddled out of town, on their retreat.

And left war atrocities. Citizens riding their bikes and shot, falling to the ground with their legs still wrapped around the bike. Citizens laying in the streets, their hands tied behind them and shot through the back of the head. Ukraine women credibly attesting to forcible rape by retreating Russian soldiers. And worst yet, at least one mass grave with strollers scattered around it. A Ukrainian member of parliament who has spent the last month putting his life at risk traveling the country, documenting Russian war crimes, video photographed the site of the mass grave.

And the Russian response to the charges of war crimes? That they never intentionally committed a war crime in Buchas. Which is pure, unadulterated bullshit. A bunch of soldiers, bugging out in a panicked retreat,  might see any citizen holding a broomstick as toting an automatic weapon. But it takes time to grab a civilian, tie their hands behind their backs, and shoot them in the back of the head. And it takes even more time, and planning, to dig a trench in the middle of a park, grab a bunch of civilians, line them up, shoot them, dump them in the hole, and fill it in. That’s not the panic of battle, that’s a war atrocity.

And this is the important part. They left the evidence just laying there! The Ukrainians have already requested that the International Crime Commission send someone to investigate the mass grave site. There is no way to hide it, the Russians have committed war atrocities, and anybody with two eyes will see it. And Putin has no answer or fallback position against it.

The reason this is so important is that even if the Ukraine manages to drive the Russian forces back into Russia basically ending the war. it doesn’t end. Because Russia has left visible signs of war crimes, so even if Russia retreats back within its own borders, the US, NATO, EU sanctions won’t end until Putin is gone, and war crimes are presented before the tribunal at the Hague. Putin and his Mongoloid Horde went too far, and it’s time to pay the piper.
