I would pass this by, absolutely, and not write on it. It’s just a cheap laugh. But I’m covering it for one reason only. Yesterday, I wrote about the fact that Lee Co. Florida Republicans submitted a declaration and executive order to Ron DeSantis to declare the COVID-19 Vaccine a biotoxin or bioweapon and outlaw it across the state. Their theory is that the vaccine enters the body and is then shed off as poison to others. You will recall that Silk said that her sister, Diamond, died due to the vaccine poison.
The anti-science movement throughout the MAGA-Right and the conspiracy theories are dangerous to this nation. The MAGAs already want to eliminate the DOJ-FBI and the Department of Education. What would stop them from defunding the world’s most elite public health center, the CDC? (Besides Biden and a Dem Senate, pretend the GOP had control).
There has long been a theory on the Right that the U.S. military has the means to control the weather. To be sure, there has been research into both cloud seeding and silica in the atmosphere to block some of the sunlight to help global warming. They cannot “control the weather.” It’s just a bit too “chaotic.” It is possible to project the orbit of two planets (or stars, moons) forever. Add a third, and it’s impossible. It’s called the “three-body problem,” and just tiny, tiny changes among the three, even on the quantum level, ensure that one will never be able to project orbits into the long-distance future. Now apply to “weather,” not cloud seeding or injections of silica in the air. We’re talking about control of the weather.
But they aren’t deterred. Simply put, if they do not understand something, they don’t go to Google and look for a real explanation. They invent their own:

I am curious however about this “impossibility” of projecting the orbits of more than two bodies: this is done all the time. At any given time astronomers know where every planet, planetoid, moon, etc. is up to and including that big thing keeping everything in the S.System. This “three body problem” actually HAD to be not only solved but taught to the astronauts so they could approach and land on the moon. WTF dude. I mean, I realize I am at a bit of an advantage here what with having a great deal of STEM education: physics, calculus and the like, engineering, etc. Still, while it is technically “rocket science” it isn’t all that big a deal or some great unsolvable riddle F.F.S. In fact, this is taught in University Physics, second semester, in universities across the nation.
Now, as for weather prediction I suspect when chaos theory becomes more of a part of mathematical curriculums (and more accepted by other mathematicians) gains will be made in weather prediction certainly because without that actually controlling weather is not in the cards. It might be a system just too great to be controlled but I believe we eventually will be able to accurately predict it and that right there will be a great tool for our planet.
We are talking over tens to hundreds of millions of years. Or, if using every object in the Solar System, even 100,000 years is very dicey.
