New Indictments, Serious New First: Russian and American Conspiring Together

As you’ve already learned from the breaking news today, as anticipated days ago, when we reported that the Office of the Special Investigator discovered Paul Manafort’s attempts to coordinate with witnesses and thus sought to revoke bail, the Special Investigator filed new indictments today, with a surprising twist.

Robert Muller indicted Konstantin Kilimnik, a Russian political operative, for conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice, along with Paul Manafort, who also received a new charge of obstruction of justice related to alleged witness tampering, his sixth charge.

For the first time – so far, and surely not to be the last – the Mueller investigation charged a Russian and American as conspiring together toward a criminal end. Per Time magazine:

“A federal grand jury in the District of Columbia has returned a third superseding indictment today against Paul J. Manafort, Jr., 69, of Alexandria, Va., which adds Konstantin Kilimnik, 48, of Moscow, Russia, as a defendant and charges both defendants with conspiracy to obstruct justice and obstruction of justice,” the Special Counsel said in a statement.

That hasn’t happened before and it is far more significant than we might first think. The imaginary line that existed between “us” and “them” has been shattered and will never be put back together.

Let me say this slowly for the conservatives who think “witch-hunt every time they hear of this topic, which is all of them:” Robert Mueller indicted the man who headed the Trump campaign during the period of the June 2016 Trump tower meeting as conspiring with a Russian National, to obstruct justice in the United States.

I don’t know about you, but it seems to me that it has been a long time since the head of a presidential campaign was indicted, and a really long time since one was indicted along with a Russian citizen, a citizen of the very nation we suspect meddled in our election. A HUGE line has been crossed in the Mueller investigation, Americans and Russians working in concert, conspiring in the same crime, meaning they are working toward the same criminal end. It IS the first time, it surely won’t be the last time.

Meanwhile – and I have already said this once today and will keep repeating it because it’s just so fking weird. Donald Trump is making an ass of himself at the G7 meeting, demanding that Russia be included. Are you fucking kidding me? (Excuse me). Hey, conservatives. Oops! Wrong term, there’s nothing conservative about Trump except his racism and conservatives tell me they’re not racism. Hey, you cult of personality people? You “Russia Truthers”? If Putin didn’t set about to put Trump in the Oval Office, and didn’t meddle in the election on Trump’s behalf, and all that stuff that is just a hoax, why the fk can’t Trump go to a damn G7 meeting and advocate for the United States, first, and not alienate our “allies” while calling on them to bring Russia in?

Just, friggin,’ asking.
