Mitch McConnell Calls Infrastructure Bill ‘A Godsend For Kentucky’

Are you pinching yourself? I understand. I’m wondering if I’m hallucinating as well, but I did pull up the article where Mitch McConnell says this very thing. What a world we live in. McConnell voted for Biden’s infrastructure bill, while Joe Manchin, whose state needs its benefits at least as much, doggedly opposed it. And the 13 GOP House members who voted for it, are now in possible danger of having their committee assignments stripped. Meanwhile, livid MAGAs who don’t know anything about the bill, they just know Marjorie Taylor Greene is opposed to it, call up congress members’ offices and threaten violence.

That said, here is Mitch McConnell showering praise on a creation of Joe Biden’s. Read on, he says he’s “proud” of the infrastructure bill. This is McConnell giving a pep talk to AppHarvest, a farming company in Appalachia. WKYT:

“How many decades have we worried about lack of economic development in eastern Kentucky? And we all know with the decline of the coal industry, it only got worse. So this gives us hope,” Sen. McConnell said. […]

He hopes money could come from the American Rescue Plan Act to help AppHarvest take this further into coal country, or from the bipartisan infrastructure bill which he supported back in August.

Given Kentucky’s recent infrastructure report card from the American Society of Civil Engineers, McConnell said he is proud of that infrastructure bill.

“I’m surprised we even got a C. We have a lot of infrastructure needs, both in rural areas and with big bridges. It’s a godsend for Kentucky,” McConnell said.

It’s also a godsend for Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio, New Jersey and other states where reps and senators voted to approve it. But that doesn’t mean that the crazies in Congress aren’t going to continue to push the MAGA tribal agenda.

Reading between the lines, I don’t doubt that McConnell has been dying for some kind of an infrastructure bill for quite some time. You remember how “infrastructure week” was a standing joke during the Trump era and how Jared Kushner and Ivanka were put in charge. Fat chance that was going to accomplish anything, beyond getting a few photo ops at factories, which is what you say. But let’s give Jared a break, shall we? He was busy reading “25 books” so that he could figure out how to create peace in the Middle East.

The reins of government are in competent hands again but the trolls in Congress who keep pushing the tribal agenda are doing a lot of damage. America can’t continue down this unserious path, with the culture war being a Cold War between warring factions, each listening to different narratives of reality and continue to thrive.

  1. I think Biden should take a strong stand and announce that the infrastructure bill’s benefits will be distributed proportionally to the states and districts whose senators and representatives voted FOR it. Say, maybe something on the level of 80% or so going to states and districts whose Congressfolk voted for the bill and leave the remaining 20% being split among the others.
Of course, the GOPers will cry “foul” but the Biden Administration should just remind everyone that the bill’s “opponents” shouldn’t want any of the money in the first place and they should be glad they’re getting any money at all.

    • Sadly, Joseph, following your idea would just hurt most all the folks who really need the benefits of the infrastructure bill. The fatcat politicos who voted against it wouldn’t suffer at all, not even at the polls, because they’d blame it all on Biden.

  2. Well something has me confused. Given Moscow Mitchs near god status around Washington and having served with republican Presidents. Why hasn’t ole Mitch done anything for the great state of Kentucky. To busy counting his millions. Or didn’t have a tie that matched the shirt. What the hell. If he wanted a Godsend for his state, all he had to do is write it up. But of course if the prune wants to compliment Joe Biden he can go ahead and do so. The BBB is short one vote.
