It must have been an interesting pilgrimage for Mike Johnson this past weekend at Mar-a-Lago. Somehow, between all the scantily clad entertainers and the bikini model who then took over as RNC chief spokesperson yesterday, the good Christian must have found a few moments to sit with Donald Trump and learn what his bidding is.

Johnson made a statement about how all the Trump prosecutions, which he characterized as lawfare, must stop right when Stormy Daniels was giving testimony. Whether that is coincidental or was done on purpose to deflect from that event is not known at this time. Here’s what the Speaker of the House had to say about the blameless GOP presumptive nominee.

There you have it, prima facie evidence of the MAGAfornication of the Republican party. It is now totally the party of Trump and if he’s the biggest crook that ever participated in presidential politics, that’s just not a biggy. They’re willing to live with it. They’re just fine with it all. And if gaslighting the American public is what it takes, then gaslighting will be the order of the day.

This begs the obvious question, does he think that the Democrats will remain rallied behind him, to protect him from Mad Marge, if he intends to subvert the rule of law in four different jurisdictions? And it brings up a second question, what happened to the statesman that briefly appeared and decided to fund Ukraine? That guy couldn’t stand being out in the light and so that persona is now submerged and the Trump toady is the persona in control?

Say, maybe that’s it: maybe Johnson has multiple personalities. That certainly would explain how things are going today. Or, maybe it’s just the fact that the Republican nominee looks so horrible in court today, due to the testimony coming from the stand, that he feels he has to do something to counteract the effect?

More questions will arise as the day progresses. On a pragmatic level, I don’t know what a GOP-led House that is holding the majority by the barest sliver is going to do to put together sweeping legislation that will destroy all the trials Trump has scheduled, including the one he’s presently in, that is set to conclude in two or three weeks, but I guess that’s the dream. Hope springs eternal.

  1. Oh mikey. You’re such a goose. The pubes will not have anything to say about further prosecutions of your turd emperor when the Democrats take control. More to the point: congress has no say about who gets prosecuted and who doesn’t ESPECIALLY AFTER the charges resulted in indictments and are already in court. Sure, were the mango moron able to steal the 2024 election he could stop the Justice Dept. from what they are currently doing…maybe…but at the state level he might as well fart in the direction of a hurricane. The NY trial as well as the GA trial–those are state trials and not only does congress have no say but neither does the w.h.

It’s a pity the people who are supposed to craft legislation know so little about the laws of the land. Even more so when it is the speaker of the house. Really shames our country.

      BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

You actually think that right-wingers “craft legislation?” Everyone knows that EVERY SINGLE PIECE of “legislation” that emerges from ANY right-wing “lawmaker” comes from the not-so-fine folks at ALEC (the “American” Legislative Executive Council). Why would you expect members of Congress who push “form-letter” laws as “original” material would know how the laws of the land actually work?

  2. And just when did Congress take over the duties of a sworn jury?

I thought it was the JURY that decided if someone was innocent or guilty – not a politician

  3. When it comes to whether Democrats will continue to support Johnson as Speaker I think the answer is yes. The saying about not interfering with your opponent when they are beating themselves comes to mind. Johnson is just making himself look weak and stupid, and by extension the rest of the GOPers and not just in the House. This kind of public fluffing of Trump will bite Johnson and others come voting time. So, if in the meantime he’s willing to allow at least some crucial business to get done Jeffries and other Democrats should just take that, and let Johnson make himself look weak and stupid. The fact it will cause still more GOP infighting is a bonus that will also help this fall.

    • Mr. Johnson has the spine of a wet noodle. It never occurs to any of them that he serves as the Speaker of the House, not the speaker of MAGA.
