It’s interesting to watch a financial train wreck. Nowadays we have two to gawk at, Donald Trump’s Empire State empire collapsing and Mike Lindell’s housewares and clothing empire, which he himself is burning to the ground. USA Today interviewed some of Lindell’s lawyers.

Attorney Andrew Parker claims that Lindell owes them millions of dollars he cannot pay back. […]

Parker wrote to the court that he and his firm cannot afford to represent MyPillow through the rest of the litigation. Parker claims that this would put the firm at a substantial financial risk.

Parker wrote in his fillings that Lindell paid the firm through the end of 2022. However, according to Parker, the payments slowed down in 2023 when fees for litigation increased. In May, the firm received payments over 60 days late and the payment did not meet the total of bills due. In July and August, no payments were made at all.

Then Parker warned Lindell that the firm would have to quit if payment was not made and clearly payment was not made. And I don’t even have to say “it gets worse” because you’ve been following this story. I actually feel somewhat sorry for these lawyers. If they lost millions, that means a lot of their unpaid labor has gone to prop up the Big Lie and that must be a burden to carry. Representing a controversial client is one thing, supporting a crazy client’s monomania is something else altogether.

Lindell has previously said that MyPillow lost $100 million after his election fraud claims, WCCO reported. His company also lost an arbitration case in April related to election fraud claims, leading to his company, Lindell LLC, being ordered to pay $5 million.

Here’s more from The Spectator, which sees Lindell as a mad Nero, burning down his own empire:

Lindell is also fighting an arbitration court’s decision that he owes $5 million to the claimant of his “Prove Mike Wrong ” contest in which he invited anyone to come forward with evidence that his claims about the 2020 election were false in exchange for the prize money. When software developer Robert Zeidman won the challenge, Lindell refused to pay.

Lindell said MyPillow’s revenue plummeted after several retail outlets cut ties with him over his claims about the 2020 election. “It was a massive, massive cancellation,” Lindell said at the time. “We lost $100 million from attacks by the box stores, the shopping networks, the shopping channels, all of them did cancel culture on us.” In March, Lindell said he had been forced to borrow $10 million to pay for his legal fees and this summer the company began to auction off hundreds of pieces of equipment, as well as subleasing manufacturing space.

Of course, Lindell’s lawsuits are only the tip of the iceberg in the businessman’s rapid descent into madness. Following the 2020 election, Lindell proposed that Trump declare martial law to nullify and rerun the election. When he was subsequently kicked off Twitter, Lindell spent millions creating his own social media platform, Frank. The platform, which is filled mostly with videos of Lindell raging against the 2020 election, looks more capable of downloading a virus onto your laptop than serving as the right’s new social media outlet.

Despite his financial woes, Lindell is adamant that MyPillow is not going out of business. “We’re not going under. We have support all over the country,” Lindell said of his company. “I shift my marketing where I have to go, and we have so much support in this country for what MyPillow is,” he said. “This is an employee-owned company, we just get attacked all the time, and you know what? We’ll come through by the grace of God.”

My thoughts on that remark: God gave us free will. If we use our free will stupidly, he’ll let us suffer the consequences of our own actions. At least, that’s how I see it working. I don’t see God as allowing somebody to screw up and screw up and then save him from himself. But I guess that’s what Lindell is banking on. Lots of luck with that.

The truth is that even Donald Trump regards Lindell as something of a cartoon figure. And Trump’s not going to lift a finger to help him, anymore than he would Giuliani and he and Giuliani go back a lot longer than he and Lindell. Trump’s got too many financial problems of his own.

Lindell will have to depend upon “the War Room posse,” which I believe is the people who watch Steve Bannon. Lots of luck with that, too.

  1. Lindell’s only useful to Bannon so far as his appearances generate boosted ratings and a f**ton of extra money. Absent that Lindell is of no use to him. There are so many freaks in the freak show we know as MAGA World Lindell doesn’t stand out and his “act” is old and tired. I don’t see Bannon making anywhere near the kind of coin from having Lindell on his show that ole “two-shirts” would send Mikey a single dollar.
