Well, it’s official. JD Vance is now the GOP candidate for the US Senate in Ohio. If you’re a Democrat, this is the best result you could have hoped for. Because it turns out that Vance is a dog with more fleas than a junkyard cur.

We’ll start with the one positive thing that Vance has going for him. Being an uber rich, snotty, GOPtard billionaire, he can largely self fund his own campaign. And it’s highly likely he’s going to have to. Because Trump isn’t about to spend any of his Leadership PAC stash on other races in 2022 when he’s hoarding it for 2024. And with Trump’s campaign absolutely dominating GOP fundraising, the RNC is left sucking hind teat. It’s nice to know that Vance won’t have to file for food stamps just become he wants to be a public servant.

It’s all downhill from here for Vance. Because Vance is a crazen, sniveling, cowardly flip-flopper. Back in 2016 Vance called Trump America’s Hitler, and Cultural heroin who would take this nation to a very dark place. Then Vance spent the first half of the primaries desperately sucking up to Trump for his endorsement, and once he got it, he spent the second half of the primary pimping the living shit out of the endorsement.  Basically, Vance is Trump’s scrap begging lap poodle.

Which is not a good thing in Ohio as it turns out. As I pointed out in an earlier article, while Vance won in a 5 man field with an underwhelming 32%, the lone anti Trump candidate finished with 23.3%, only 0.6% from 2nd place, and only 9 points behind Vance. Pivoting to the general election, Vance starts with almost 25% of Ohio GOP voters firmly against him. After all, it’s not like they didn’t have choices, there were 3 other Trombie candidates in the race. These people are anti Trump, good luck winning them over. They’ll either vote for Ryan, or stay home.

Actually, I feel sorry for Ohio voters. Living in Nevada, a potential swing state with a US Senator up for reelection, once we have our primary, if Paul Laxalt’s monkey spawn makes the ballot, the ads won’t stop until election day, they’ve already started in fact.

And poor Ohioans are going to find themselves deluged by Super PAC ads showing Vance calling Trump America’s Hitler, followed by Vance slavishly fluffing trump. After 6 months of that, those anti Trump voters are really gonna hate Vance.

The next problem is JD Vance’s persona. I’ve never read Vances autobiography, Hillbilly Elegy, but I understand that Vance had a rough childhood growing up in Appalachia. And I truly feel sorry for him, I wouldn’t wish a shitty childhood on anybody, mine was middle class blessed.

But this JD vance comes off as exactly what he is. An uber rich, snotty faux  conservative billionaire private equity fund manager. He lives in rarified air that few of us will ever know, especially the majority of lunch pail, blue collar voters in Ohio. Vance can campaign all he wants on his childhood, but what voters will actually see is the current JD Vance persona.

Which is why he was the Democrats wish list candidate, and Democratic candidate Tim Ryan is kryptonite to his private equity Superman. Ryan is as down-to-earth, blue collar Ohio as they come. He spent his entire House career running on blue collar, kitchen table issues, and he did it again in the primary. The contrast is going to be stark, and the debates will likely be trench warfare.

Especially when he brings along His leetle friend. His secret weapon, one Sherrod Brown. Sherrod Brown is the Senate iteration of Tim Ryan in the House. His whole campaign is respect for workers, kitchen table issues, and restoring manufacturing to Ohio. As a result, he is the only Democrat to be able to repeatedly win statewide office in red leaning Ohio. In his last cycle, the RNCC flooded Ohio with money and advertising, trying to take him out, and Brown won comfortably.

Sherrod Brown can be an invaluable asset for the Ryan campaign. Because Sherrod Brown already has something that Tim Ryan sadly lacks, statewide name recognition. I believe that’s why Ryan launched a doomed-to-fail presidential campaign in 2020, to increase his statewide name recognition. If Brown stumps with Ryan, and why wouldn’t he?, his simple appearances give Ryan a voter gravitas that Vance can never hope to match.

Now it’s up to the Democrats. This was always a wish list pickup of an open seat, but now the Gods are smiling. You gotta know that the GOP is going to be all in to hold this open seat in their column. And from where I’m sitting, it’s at risk. Now the Democrats need to spend whatever money and resources are necessary to let Tim Ryan level the playing field. From there on out, it’s up to him. But watch this race like a hawk.

  1. There’s one thing here not mentioned but what might be a fly in the ointment for Mr. Ryan–this is the state that thought santorum belonged in the senate. Think about that for a bit. Any state thinking that piece of fecal matter/spooge mix belongs in high public office is not capable of making intelligent election choices.

Yeah, Ohioans are going to inundated with ads these next few months. Not sure that is going to impart any wisdom tho’.

  2. QUESTION .. if he is a trump billionaire why does closeted Peter Thiel have to fund him? He bragged about that yesterday.
