If you haven’t read, Jared Kushner has a new book deal which paints him in an entirely different light from what the yous and mes saw for four years and he and Ivanka have leaked comments to CNN about how they’re “distancing” themselves from Donald Trump. What’s that you say? Aren’t they building a $30,000,000 mansion an hour away from Mar-a-Lago? Precisely.
All that’s really going on is that Jared and Ivanka have lived to regret the fact that due to their key roles in the Trumptanic administration, they are effectively social pariahs back in the elite society of New York, to which they would so much like to return. They want a do over, in other words. Guess what folks? Life doesn’t afford too many people a do over and after what you’ve done, if people have it to do all over again, they’ll do it all over you. And you will deserve it.

All of this “distancing” is a last-ditch effort for the royal couple that spent four years selling “Jared and Ivanka are doing their best behind the scenes” stories to back away from the throne and its far right worshippers and inch back into the mainstream. The book news came admd a wave of news reporters with sources — guess who! — talking about how Jared wanted to do something about COVID but no one would listen to him, and Jared wanted to do something about policing and race in America after George Floyd’s murder but no one would listen to him.
For someone who gets ignored all the time, apparently Jared is nothing if not persistent. And the wretched thirstiness of him and his wife does fascinate, which is presumably how they willed into existence that CNN story with 12 sources “familiar with the situation” musing about how Ivanka was hoping “to undo the entanglements caused by the years at her father’s side in the White House, as she seeks a less complicated life for her family, according to two acquaintances. They described her as having to walk a fine line between embracing her father and distancing herself from his election lies.” […]
Jared is far from the only Trumpist with a book on the horizon. Kellyanne Conway has a book coming and Mike Pence has two. These people are all going to try and launder their terrible reputations. They are going to lie to you and tell you that they tried, that they wanted to control Trump, that they were a “moderating force.” That they stopped Trump from doing the really bad stuff.
Do not believe them. Do not give these people the benefit of the doubt. The bad stuff happened. These people didn’t prevent anything. They’re just looking to clean up and cash out after hitting the exit doors.
That’s about the size of it. They want their cake and eat it too. Well, guess what? All New Yorkers are serving these days is humble pie — at least I hope so. I will be very depressed if Jarvanka just walks back in like nothing happened.
Michael Cohen is one New Yorker who doesn’t see it happening that way.

This makes a lot more sense to me than the world just giving Jarvanka a pass. We will see, won’t we now?
History will judge Juan and Evita Peron 2.0 (JarVanka) even more harshly than the originals.
Don’t EVEN compare Ivanka to Eva Perón. Perón has been unfairly maligned but she’s a proverbial saint when compared to Ivanka Trump. (Most of the calumny directed at Eva Perón came from Jorge Luis Borges, the writer, who claimed her mother ran a brothel and that Eva worked there. Borges, in choosing to attack Juan Perón’s alleged fascism, decided instead to display his own misogyny by attacking Eva more than a decade after her death.)

Ivanka walked on the Panama condo money laundering scheme she oversaw for daddy. Russian money from Putin’s oligarch buddies. The government had 2step in to stop the shreding of documents when it fell apart. Like so many of their minor crimes, it just went away. No reason to think they have to face consequences since they never have.
They can try to salvage their reputations but history will tell the story about the whole unsavory crew.
The various governments could make a bundle if they put that family’s perp walk on pay-per-view.
