Things are not looking great for Gym Jordan’s quest to become the next Republican Speaker of the House.
As I write this at least 20 Republican Reps, some say as many as 60, are vowing that they will never vote for the sweaty insurrectionist, and Republican Rep. Mark Alford (who is actually from Missouri despite what the screen capture up top says) states frankly that our Devine Lord and Savior himself couldn’t get to the needed 217 votes right now.
I doubt very much that Jesus would want it anyway.
“WASHINGTON (AP) — Increasingly desperate Republicans convened behind closed doors again Friday as the endless search for a House speaker drags deeper into a second week leaving the GOP majority spiraling into chaos for the foreseeable future.
Attention swiftly turned to Rep. Jim Jordan, the hardline Judiciary Committee chairman and founder of the hardline Freedom Caucus as the next potential candidate after Majority Leader Steve Scalise abruptly ended his bid when it became clear hardline holdouts refused to back him.
But not all Republicans want to see Jordan as speaker, second in line to the presidency. Overwhelmed and exhausted, anxious GOP lawmakers worry their House majority is being frittered away to countless rounds of infighting over rules, personalities and direction of the GOP.
“Someone said ‘You know, you could put Jesus Christ up for Speaker of the House, and he still wouldn’t get 217,” said Rep. Mark Alford, R-Mo., about the number needed to win a floor vote.“

This member told me, we can’t reward this behavior. He said, we can’t let a small group be dictators. But another source familiar with the matter says Jordan has had positive conversations with his colleagues this weekend and is ready to force that Tuesday vote.
Jordan believes he can eventually convince the holdouts to back him.“
Of course the real Orange elephant in the room is Dumbo Drumpf who is pulling out all the stops trying to get his boy into the speakership where he can refuse to up the debt limit next month and tank the red-hot Biden recovery, the strength of which, if it continues chugging along, will tank the dotard’s hopes of winning in 2024.
To that end Trumps has lit bonfires under the backsides of MAGA loyalists like Marjorie “Trailer Park” Greene, Matt Max Headroom Gaetz, BoBo Beetlejuice and the ever servile Elise Stefanik of New York, having them issue all manners of threats which, to this point at least, seem to have been of little help to Jimbo.

I usually hate making predictions, but if I had to bet I think Jordan will realize tomorrow that he doesn’t have the votes and will try to delay Tuesday’s vote.

WADR, this is NOT the story. The Rs got just what they wanted: a closed govt. But this time it just “appears” that it is “about choosing a new speaker, but we just can’t make up our pretty little minds on who…” story.

And the donors have cut them off. We’ll see who wins that fight.

Not if our “liberal” media has anything to say about it. Bear in mind that, despite ALL the great economic news that we’ve experienced in the past year, the media continues pushing a “woe-is-us” economic narrative–that we’re still facing high inflation and high gas prices and all other sorts of horrible economic news.
The stock market could be at 75,000; we could have 1% unemployment with a $25/hour minimum wage and full health insurance benefits; interest rates could be at 0.1%; people are able to spend money AND also save; corporate profits could be at all-time record highs (even with all the previously mentioned factors in play); the government could be running a budget surplus of $10 trillion. All of that could be happening and our glorious “liberal” media would still be pushing a narrative that “the economy’s in sh#t shape” (largely because the far-right media, like Fox “News” and the Wall Street Journal and New York Times op/ed pages would be pushing the narrative and the “liberal” media would fall for it without actually checking the facts for themselves).
It does not take much to get a communications/journalism degree. I am surprised it is even a four year degree when for as little as they learn, it could be completed in two.

Well the fact that it is possible all 150 of the fools signed on to the 2020 drumpf election lie might have something to do with it. If not all of them, a very large percentage.
