This is an amazing playbook that the GOP has going. Lose an election and then pretend that you didn’t, that the former guy is still president and that the long-dissolved cabinet is still a viable entity as well. This is the first time in American history that you hear a former chief of staff being addressed as “Chief” and talking about how “the president is fully engaged” — when he means the former president. But then again, this is on Newsmax, the network for whom reality is so painful and the presentation of an alternate universe that doesn’t exist anywhere else is such a balm. At least, that’s who you have to assume are their viewers.

The part I liked is about Trump’s 90% approval rating “and you don’t get that in four years.” You don’t get it being out of office, either.

There’s a market for bullshit. Apparently when you’ve decided that the world of legitimate work and legitimate people is too much of a grind, you go into the world of bullshit — which frequently pays much better. There’s always that.

We’ve all heard the expression, “better to rule in Hell than serve in Heaven.” This is that premise. Better to be a star on RWNJ media, talking about things that don’t exist, than to be out in the real world working to make something come to past. It’s a bastardization of Obama’s “be the change you want to see.” It’s more like “pretend that things are how you want them to be. They won’t get there, but you’ll feel better pretending for a short while, maybe.”

The question I ask is how long is this going to go on? Will 2022 come around and Meadows will be talking about Trump’s cabinet, like he’s in power? Or will 2024 come around, same thing? Even the heartiest MAGAs must have some point where they stop believing.

On Election Night when Rudy Giuliani was telling Trump, “just go out and say you won,” reportedly Mark Meadows was appalled. Now, he’s apparently seen the light.

  1. Eventually, (and not too far off, I’d wager), the FACT that there is only one ACTUAL reality, and all the alternative realities are really just fuzzy fantasies, will come crashing into their lives. I’d wager that for many of them that will happen as they gaze at a prison wall.
