It had to happen sooner or later, it was inevitable. It was never more than just a matter of time. Earlier this week, a 60 something dimwit with a chip on his shoulder, and an armory big enough to do something about stormed the Wisconsin house of the judge who had put him away for armed burglary in 2005, and then for reasons unknown at this time, shot himself. The stupid shit couldn’t even do that right, he’s alive and in critical condition.
This sad tragedy reminded me of the Baltimore newspaper office shooting several years ago. Another disturbed loser with a perpetual chip on his shoulder, and the weapons to assuage his anger. He hit the newspaper because he thought their coverage of his court case against the county was unfair. The difference is that the lunatic who shot the judge had an entire hit list of people he had a beef with. Including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
I have a question for Senator McConnell. I have no idea of how you found this information out, your staff, your security detail, the media like the rest of us. Here’s the question. How did it feel? Did your heart race a little, and your stomach drop, when you heard that there was a lunatic out there with a grudge against you, and the mass slaughter machinery to back up his grudge? Did you get a little twitch in between your shoulder blades? Do you find yourself looking over your shoulder when you walk down the street? If so, welcome to the world the rest of us live in, ass gasket!
A brief digression to make my point. Teri and I love the Harry Potter movies. And in one of them, the Donald Trump of wizardry, a pompous, self promoting, ignorant buffoon named Gilderoy Lockhart becomes a professor at Hogwarts. To shock his students, he let loose a cage full of Cornish pixies. Which had the effect he desired, until the pixies started destroying his shit, and attacking him. Which led Lockhart to flee for his office, telling the students to put them away again.
Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy, the RNC, the GOP writ large, the NRA, all of you are the Gilderoy Lockhart’s of the gun violence epidemic in this country. All of you have spent decades doing everything in your power to open the cage for the Cornish pixies, And now that they’re all flying around loose, and they’re starting to come after some of your shit, you have absolutely no plan of how to put them back in their cage again.
It was all cookies and cream at the start. It was mostly far right militias and neo Nazi’s, and bedsheet banditos who were holding sway, and they were with the program, threatening the libruls, and the gubbmint! The actual acts of mass violence mostly took place by disturbed individuals with delusional grievances and agendas against strangers, nothing that Thoughts and prayers couldn’t handle.
Come on now! Did you honestly think that you’d be able to skate free and clear forever? Maybe having a bunch of wet brained far right loonies running around with AR’s and threatening libruls was a good scare tactic. But look at the history of mass shootings, you morons! The vast majority have no ideological program, they have a delusional grievance against an individual or group, and the firepower to scratch that itch. Mowing down 19 kids in a school in Texas is not a political statement!
All it takes is one. All it takes is one shattered father whose teenage girl was sexually abused by an older, more powerful, preppy male, to decide that Matt Gaetz will do just fine to avenge his daughters honor and integrity. And in a couple of months, all it takes is one grieving family member of a teenager who died from a back alley coat hanger abortion to decide that John Roberts needs to pay for his sins.
Are you getting the point here, morons? You have opened the Hellraiser puzzle box, and there’s no controlling the carnage. Who knows, maybe somebody lost family members in a mass shooting, and Wayne LaPierre is the perfect culprit. The rest of us out here have the advantage of anonymity, it’s a crapshoot for us. But you clowns have put yourself front and center, in the public eye, and you had better be ready to deal with the fallout.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up. After all, when some deranged asshole from our home state drove out to DC to shoot up a practice session for the annual inter-Party Congressional baseball game it was the GOP practice that got hit and GOP leadership team member Steve Scalise is lucky to still be alive. “Gud-Damn Democrat voting” Capitol Police save his and a lot of other people’s asses that day. But the point is that not just folks people outside their districts have never heard of were on the business end of a mass shooter but a big name in the GOP House Caucus and Scalise is dead-set (pun intended) against ANY form of gun control!
Scalise apparently learned zilch from that experience.
Thing is, many of these mass shooting (I’m not sure if it is most or not) have been occurring in very, very red states. So long as the pols in those states can deflect, lie, etc. about the subject, I see nothing changing. Until their feet are held to the fire on gun violence and they are thrown out of office they will continue to lie, deflect….I am reminded of Charles Durning as gov of TX in the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas during his little number “ooooh I like to dance a little sidestep….”
I am very glad that he is alive and in critical condition. I hope he is suffering horrendous pain from the gunshot wound. I hope he recovers, but with lingering complications that will make him suffer for the rest of his life. I also hope that he will be tried, convicted, and sentenced to life without parole. He can suffer in prison. That’s where he belongs.
