Why don’t we cut to the chase? Why don’t we just get a gigantic burlap bag and put all the Republicans in it, like they do with rats, and just let them eat each other all at once. Because that’s what’s going on anyway. As you undoubtedly have read, James Comer is on the receiving end of “careful what you wish for, you just might get it.” He wanted, demanded, threatened hellfire and brimstone to get Hunter Biden to testify and Hunter said, “Okay.”

Biden’s one stipulation is that the hearings be public and Comer had a hissy fit about that. And understandably so. In a closed-door scenario, the results can be reframed however the ruling party wants to reframe them. But in an open air venue, where everybody can see and hear, what’s there is what’s there. Astoundingly enough, railing against Comer is none other than Josh Hawley.

And Jamie Raskin chimed in and he’s always worth listening to.

Raskin (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, said in response that “after wailing and moaning for ten months about Hunter Biden and alluding to some vast unproven family conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify, Chairman Comer and the oversight Republicans now reject his offer to appear before the full committee and the eyes of the world and to answer any questions that they pose?”

“What an epic humiliation for our colleagues and what a frank confession that they are simply not interested in the facts and have no confidence in their own case or the ability of their own members to pursue it,” said Raskin. “After the miserable failure of their impeachment hearing in September, Chairman Comer has now apparently decided to avoid all committee hearings where the public can actually see for itself the logical, rhetorical, and factual contortions they have tied themselves up in.”

“The evidence has shown time and again President Biden has committed no wrongdoing, much less an impeachable offense,” Raskin added. “Chairman Comer’s insistence that Hunter Biden’s interview should happen behind closed doors proves it once again. What the Republicans fear most is sunlight and the truth.”

Hunter Biden’s offer to appear publicly before the House Oversight Committee came in a letter that his attorney, Abbe Lowell, wrote to Comer. The push for a public appearance stems from concerns that Republicans would selectively leak any closed-door testimony.

“Your empty investigation has gone on too long wasting too many better-used resources. It should come to an end,” the letter reads. “Consequently, Mr. Biden will appear at such a public hearing on the date you noticed, December 13, or any date in December that we can arrange.”

“If, as you claim, your efforts are important and involve issues that Americans should know about,” the letter adds, “then let the light shine on these proceedings.”

Let there be light. And cameras. And action.

  1. Every citizen of this country with at least ten functioning brain cells can see comer for what he is, a hypocrite, but not just that because he is showing himself to be a very spineless hypocrite. What a coward. What a skeevy, scheming, spineless piece of garbage. There are no denigrating words bad enough to describe what this garbage heap of a congress member truly is. Still, he has shown to the world that he is dishonest about everything he claims the Bidens have done wrong. Still no proof of course but then that has never been the problem…for him.

I truly hope every democrat running for office makes hay with this tidbit of rank hypocrisy. Make hay with it and apply it to EVERY ‘pube candidate-because it fits every single one of them.

  2. Funny how, when the Committee was bringing all those “whistleblowers” and folks who were going to be “slam dunks” against Hunter Biden and, by extension, the President, there didn’t seem to be any issues about public hearings in front of the cameras. I guess when all those witnesses turned out to be stealth witnesses for the defense, the GOPers decided they didn’t want to risk it with Hunter.
