You see these stories turning up daily now. The anti-vaxxers are caught by COVID-19 because the virus doesn’t care about whacky ideas. It’s going to get into whatever organism it can and wreak havoc.
This is the typical story with few variations. Sarah Walsh, running for a congressional seat in Missouri and whose husband is the press secretary for another Republican running for the Senate are both sick with COVID, the husband egregiously so. Walsh says that she didn’t get vaccinated “because vaccines are not approved by the FDA.” Pure CT. Just what we need, another anti-vaxxer conspiracy theorist in the House.

By all means, honey, finish what Donald Trump started, which is to let far more Americans unnecessarily die from the pandemic than need be. If I seem to lack compassion, it’s because I do. These people have had all the statistics and the war stories blaring at them from broadcast and social media just like the rest of us. If they can’t take appropriate measures to protect themselves, then I don’t feel sorry for them.
In particular I don’t feel sorry for people who feel that they know enough to get involved in politics and run things when they don’t have the sense that God gave a goat and they don’t get vaccinated. Even Walsh’s hero, Trump, made damn sure he got his world class treatment at Walter Reed and then went on to get vaccinated.
This anti-science madness has to stop. The birther conspiracy was one level of absurdity but climate change denying and COVID denying are in a different category altogether. These are existential threats.
And if you haven’t heard this one, Lauren Boebert’s step grandfather died of COVID in December, but she’s still going on about the Fauci ouchi. These people are the deplorables.
She must have stopped learning when she was still quite young.

These people have never been challenged, apparently, on any reality basis … just cruising along on gasbag Rush Limbaugh’s nonsense, locked into that special place where Trumpsters go, somewhere where the truth is never told, read, or taught, and their freedum to be stupendously uninformed is never questioned …

I’m with Ursula on this one, so sad, too bad … did not take a few seconds to verify the BS spilling out of DJT’s/Limbaugh’s pie holes … walking straight into the arms of Covid-19, which does not give a shit that people are too stupid, and/or so self involved to notice the bodies falling all over the world …
ALL these no-accounts, should be assigned to a cot under a large rain fly with open walls so they can feel the fresh breezes which they can’t breath or smell the flowers, keeping the much needed ICU’s and ER’s open for vaccinated people wearing masks …
They are idiots spreading death. It’s our “tech-driven” society that has enabled this to begin with. Two glaring examples: our reality show ex-president & the corporate driven media coddling this fascist & all his crimes, & facebook/social media blurring fact, etc. I grew up when there were books full of history, etc. These were read & reading comprehension had to occur. If not, you failed until you performed. Our technology, with no requirement to stick to facts & truth, as we know it, has allowed this to spread.
Social media has done humanity in general, and Americans in particular, no favors whatsoever. When I think of what could have been created in the Sciences, Engineering, etc. and then I see the results of F.B., Twitter, and the rest of that crap, it damn near makes me want to cry. What a complete, f*cking waste that garbage is. Lewis Black said it best: we could have had flying cars but no, it was more important to be able to type on a tiny keyboard about going to hooters.
Future generations are going to call the generations living now the dumbest people that have EVER lived in the U.S./North America. We will be considered to be worse than the idiots responsible for the Salem witch trials, the pieces of sh*t responsible for the massacre in Tulsa, the confederacy, McCarthyism, etc. And they will be 100% correct.
What the hell could anybody learn from Limbaugh? My formerly-sweet and lovable younger brother just turned 70. He joined the Limbaugh Love Train in the late 1980s. Because we lived thousands of miles apart, I did not see him often, and it was about seven years ago at a family gathering that I first heard him doing his “Rush Bloviates” impression. By then, it was too late to have any sway.
He has all sorts of health compromises, and his doctor had told him, pre-COVID, that he might not see 75. When I encourage him, through his beey submissive wife, to get vaccinated, the response is dead air.
I hate to give him up, but te’s a dead man walking.
