Gerry Connolly Kicks Some Republican Ass At Peter Strzok Congressional Hearing

Rep. Gerry Connolly (D) from Virginia just set things straight in the “Russian Show Trial” of Peter Strzok.  According to him, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” and he proceeded to give the ganders what they had given Strzok – a public reading of personal emails.  Emails that contained the same sentiments that Strzok penned in 2016 – yet these emails were from Republicans.

FBI Agent, Peter Strzok testified today defending his actions during investigations of both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election at a joint hearing before the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees.  As a part of the Oversight Committee, Rep. Gerry Connolly from Virginia asked questions of Strzok and was not making any apologies – to Republicans, that is.

He started his questioning Strzok by stating that the hearing was “a new low in the United States Congress.  What a shame.”

He then said, “And my understanding is the big Republican beef, in order to discredit you and discredit the FBI, and thereby, hopefully, in their point of view –  is to undermine the Mueller investigation, hinges on the fact that you sent out some indiscreet, personal emails about your political views on the then pending 2016 election.”

He then proceeded to read aloud various texts and emails from Republicans, penned during the same time frame as Peter Strzok.  After reading the emails, Connolly said to Strzok, “So, it sounds like, when you were writing these emails in the heat of the campaign, you had a lot of good company on the Republican side of the aisle.  And now you’re an orphan.”

If you have 5 minutes, it’s worth watching the whole thing here:

While he did not apologize to any Republicans during his exchange, Connolly did say this to Strzok.

“I thank you.  And I’m so sorry for the treatment you’ve received here today.  As a member of Congress and as a member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, I take no pleasure in watching this spectacle.”

Way to go Rep. Connolly!!

  1. My depression is beginning to lift. What a relief that people who revere ‘facts’ are standing up for justice. Even better, people who have the muscle to fight back. I’ve been haunted by my own powerlessness, as an ordinary involved citizen.
